I'm so excited to announce that Social Climbers, my novel, is being offered at
How exciting is that? They are fabulous for all your Holiday presents! I live for all things monogrammed and am honored to be a part of this Preppy, beautiful site.
Speaking of which don't for get to check out
Which is great for the more spiritual/self help shoppers.
Speaking of Social Climbers. What does everyone think of Desire Rogers?
As a former event planner and PR consultant I got dressed up, had my hair and make up done and attended all of my events looking like a guest. However, I was secretly walking around making sure guests were mingling, getting their drinks and being photographed. Occasionally, I had to play the role of guest. Curious of everyone's thoughts on the very SC scandal in DC!
Have a beautiful preppy day!
xoxo

Congratulations on having your book featured on 2PG. Interesting article on Desiree Rogers. This developing story will be one to watch for sure.

Congrats on the book! Yea Beth and SC!
ReplyDeleteAs for Desiree Rogers, I would say she is a SC in the derogatory sense. Her job is to make sure that events run smoothly and that hosts/guests are happy. She is there to make the Obamas and their White House make the best appearance and show the finest intent. (Not that I am a fan of them AT ALL.) She is not the star. An unobtrusive graciousness is lacking for Ms. Rogers.
I planned events and galas for my city's ballet company for a few years. I was dressed up. I was out mingling with guests. I had my photograph taken. However, I was not there for my glory. I was there for the ballet company and the guests.
It's all about graciousness, Desiree.
Very exciting !
ReplyDeleteGlad to see the book is being offered at some other retail locations.
ReplyDeleteCongrats!!

I love the preppy web site & am thrilled that your book is being offered there, because I plan to buy one!
ReplyDeleteAs for Ms. Rogers... I like her and her style but she clearly screwed up. Apparently, the current president & first lady don't care & they intend to keep her. I also feel like she is perhaps the reason the first lady is looking so much better these days. Someone with great style does tend to rub off on others.
I worked under Desiree about 5 years ago. I am really fascinated by what everyone has to say because I'm choosing to keep my opinions to myself. ;)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on getting your book even more exposure! Do you know Two Florida Girls? If not I can make the introduction for you and see if maybe they can do anything for you!
ReplyDeleteRead the article... interesting... but GAWD what a terrible picture! As she sits next to The Twiggy-Svelte Anna Wintour my eyes caught sight of the nasty cellulite on Ms. Roger's thigh. Whatever haute couture she chose to wear should have gone un petit plus haute to cover up that nastee cottage cheese!
ReplyDeleteHave I ever told you that I am incredibly shallow? I made you laugh, tho didn't I?
Hi Beth! I feel guilty but I didn't start your book yet. I have been so busy but I will! I should read it at night before I go to bed..that is not a bad idea come to think of it!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to visit the Preppy Girls now!
Have a preppy day!!
And I didn't think 2 Preppy Girls could get even more fabulous!
ReplyDeleteOh! Cellulite... I missed that!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your book being featured on 2PG! That's awesome! :)
ReplyDeleteAs for Desiree, I have mixed feelings. It seems like she is doing some wonderful things for the White House and the First Family. BUT, she needs to step out of the spotlight in order to do her job correctly. She needs to create the event, not be the event. Being a social secretary means working behind-the-scenes. Acting so naturally and discreetly, so people think you're a guest, rather than the organizer. She obviously doesn't know how to do that, which is annoying.
Not sure how I feel about Ms. Rogers. And I sure have question about taking the religious aspect out of the Christmas holiday. ugh
ReplyDeleteWell congratulations on the new venue! Any girl would be lucky to receive your book for the holidays!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on 2 Preppy Girls!! How thrilling! You must be so proud.
ReplyDeleteWoohoo, you go girl. I'm so excited for you and your book. I hope the Christmas season is very generous to you. The book makes a great present.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day and enjoy the fame!!!
Congrats!!!
ReplyDeleteAs far as Desiree, seems like she has a conflict of interest!
Congrats on the deal with 2PG. I am sure the book will sell well through them.
ReplyDeleteAs for the White House Social Secretary, she screwed up. Event Planners DO NOT attend events as guests. Period. Perhaps the whole white house needs a bit of etiquette training.
Poodle,
ReplyDeleteSOOO PROUD to have you on my website!!! Thanks fo the write up!
As for today's SC, I haven't watched the news all day, I"ve been so slammed!! I will check it out now!!
Smoches!!
Margaret
Congratulations! I loved your book. I need to get some copies for friends this holiday season.
ReplyDeleteTo address your question:
Ms. Rogers job is to make the Obama’s, their events, & the perception of their administration shine in every social sense. Instead she embarrassed the entire White House staff and created a security nightmare. Instead of politely and accuately explaining she could not provide invitations she was vague, immature, and impolite. The confusion was her fault. She may have a Harvard degree, but she fails Manners 101.
Very SC, wannabe, & disappointing. Someone send her one of Letitia Baldrige’s books STAT!
Congrats on the book being sold at 2 Preppy Girls! I'm so proud to be blogger friends with such an accomplished author!!
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day darling!
XOXO
Leslie
Hi there! Just left something for you on my blog! Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on more exposure for your book!
ReplyDeleteThe truth is our Secret Service messed up big time and some heads should roll for it. Period. This finger pointing part of the blame is extremely childish. I like Desire and she is doing her job, unlike the SS.
CONGRATS!!! hopefully I can find your book so i can buy and read it!
ReplyDeleteOh so exciting!!! I'm so glad for you! :)
ReplyDeleteFrankly, she doesn't bother me. Every administration has employees that make mistakes. From what I've seen of her, she's the epitome of a professional. Congrats on getting the book out there more!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! That is so exciting!! :)
