A few observations

I hope this blog finds everyone having a wonderful day!

Today I went shopping for a Navy Blue "Blazer." No one at any of the stores knew what I was talking about. When I rephrased it and said "Jacket," it clicked. Am I the only one who calls them Blazers? Am I a dinosaur? I'm feeling that way.

Snooky got a bigger feature in The New York Times Style Section then the preppy/Ivy league look article. I don't personally have anything against reality stars. I only watch The Real Housewives, but really?  I didn't read the article but is she NYT style section material?

My new favorite word is cute-iful for cute/beautiful. My little sis QBS sent me a princess, you know you who are book for my birthday. Thank you cutie!

That's it. I told you I'm super boring!

  2. I call them blazers as do my parents! I only watch some of the Real Housewives too! You're not boring!!! Hope you're having a great day!

  3. I call them blazers, as well. And, dear Beth, you could NEVER be boring!!! XOXO

  4. My friend, boring is not a word I would ever use to describe you!
Hope you are having a wonderful day!!

  5. Lovin' the word cute-iful! What a great word!

I still call them blazers too!

    You are definitely not boring!

  6. No way jose! Not only do I still use stationary- but they are called blazers! I have a whole collection in my closet from Tahari to Lauren :) xo

  7. PS- a jacket is for camping.

  8. I have always called them blazers! You need to inform those salespeople!

  9. I think blazers sounds more proper than jackets so yes I do call them blazers too.

I also agree with you about this "Snookie" girl.

    Have a preppy day!

  10. I still call them blazers and No, Snookie is not NYT style material and that Jersey Shore hype is driving me bananas! Love reality tv shows when they are good and interesting, but I feel like Jersey Shore is the Jerry Springer of reality tv. And yes, I probably am the only person in the world who doesn't like Jersey Shore. I'm more of a Hills/City, Real Housewives or Kimora Lee kind of gal!

  11. I know them as blazers. To me, jackets are outerwear.

  12. A navy blue jacket is a blazer. If someone doesn't know what that it they should question their ability to serve the purpose of clothing sales associate.

And it is 'Snooki'- not that I really care about her; she is lowbrow despicable.

  13. I use the word blazer when describing a nice dressy jacket. To me a jacket is just that...a jacket with a zipper or a hood, something casual.
    I guess, I'm a dinosaur too. :-)
p.s. Snookie is not NYT material. What is this world coming to?

  14. It amazes me that people don't know that woman's jacket is a blazer and a man's is a sport coat. Sad.
Even sadder is that society gives Snookie and the rest of the crew the time of day. They get no attention from me (other then just knowing who they are)

  15. Agree with Grace, I call them blazers and love the word cuitful!

  16. Ummm, we knew right away, but apparently it's not as much a part of people's vocabularies as it used to be!

And The Situation on Wall Street this morning? Another sign the end is near.

  17. I've always called it a blazer...in fact, here in Louisville, the preppy man's uniform is: blue blazer, red striped tie and khakis. Yeah, it's a sad day when Snookie makes the NY Times Style section.

  18. Blue w/ brass or gold buttons...yep ...it's a Blazer.
Snookie...a true American tragedy and embarassment. At least the article painted her for what she is...a sleazy, immature, self absorbed little disaster...a real tackorama.I find her loathsome on many levels.

  19. Miss Wendy, I beg to differ with your definition. A gentleman can indeed wear a blazer.

  20. I say blazers too! I guess it is a little manly???

    ReplyDelete
  21. I call them blazers too! The people that don't just aren't preppy enough! Snooky grosses me out- those people are soooooo not classy!

    ReplyDelete
  22. I call them blazers, too. That's crazy that people in the store didn't know what you were talking about - what is society coming to?!

And Snooki? Don't even get me started.

  23. Blah I am boring too these days. Summer seems to have sucked the life out of everyone!

I call them blazers too - it's a shame they hire min wage teens to work in stores :O(

  24. I also call them blazers. A few years ago, my father went into a department store to buy some "gray flannel" slacks for my mother for Christmas. They had no clue what he was talking about. He harped on that for years. They would have looked nice with a navy blazer.

  25. That babbling, spray-tan Snookie is in the Style section? How disappointing. Maybe the un-Style section. SNL did a hilarious parody of her! I just cannot watch their show. Cannot contribute to the downfall of our civilization by watching such garbage, which will for sure turn your brain to mush. :-) xoxo

  26. I call them blazers. I can't beleive people didn't know what you were talking about.

  27. Blazers. Of course. You are amongst your people according to all of the posted comments.

Tammy E.- I love the gray flannel story. My grandmother's winter wardrobe largely consisted of(weekdays of course) a nice pair of gray flannel pants, a silk blouse, thin cashmere crew sweater and a navy blazer. A usually red themed square scarf around her neck and pearl bobs.
I kid you not, when she would remove the scarf from her neck, she would often tie it round and round her wrist and wear like a bracelet. This was in her 80's. Gee I miss her.

  28. I call them Blazers too...that's what they are! ...anyhow LOVE your word...cutieful! Perfection. xoxo

  29. It's a navy blue blazer! Hope you had good luck finding one!

  30. blazer it is! it has always been and always will be! and you are too too much, glad you luurrv the book as much as I do... even though they say you are a princess for a lifetime, queen for a day (in regards to wedding), I think we know a certain exception or two to that rule :)

  31. They are called blazers... What's wrong with people! ;)
Sorry to hear that Snooky got a big feature in the style section, that is interesting considering her look. I am a huge housewives fan too. Looking forward to the DC and Beverly Hills ones.
Thanks for stopping by my blog. Make sure to enter my giveaway tomorrow.

  32. Blazers are navy. They are not navy. End of story.

Those things that are tweed that make any man look like a hunky co-ed, esp when paired with a pair of faded jeans and Gucci loafers sans socks may be called jackets, however. ;)

How's Husband? Give him a kiss for me. You are SO not boring... in fact quite the opposite!

  33. We still call them blazers here in Texas AND they are still a wardrobe staple. We only wear jackets in the winter.

    ;-)

  34. I still call them blazers. I think most people in VA do? Let me rephrase that! The people I hang out with do :)

  35. Yep, their 'blazers'! Shoppin' for me lately has not been a positive experience....I keep seein' my Mother's style everywhere....what's the deal....I'm soooo not ready for that!

God bless sweetie and have a super day!!!

  36. They're not blazers anymore? Who knew?

Thanks for your question from last week. I'll be answering it in tomorrow's post. I hope you get a chance to check it out.

  37. Hmmm, I always called them "blazers." So do my mom and grandmother.

  38. I most definitely call them blazers as well. No idea how someone else didn't recognize them as such.

Just left you an award over on my blog: http://dcgopgirl.blogspot.com/2010/07/versatile-blogger.html

    XoXo!!

  39. To me they are blazers and always will be! As far as the article goes,I had to do a double take when I saw that section! I looked at the paper sitting on the coffee table and thought "no way, they did not just do this?" Yup they did, any how I had to read it, and must say it was funny. Loved the part were the journalist writes" trying to hold a conversation with Snooki is a little like getting down on your hands and knees with a child. You have to come down to her level, and sometimes you almost think you need to bribe her with a piece of candy to coax her to be more responsive

  40. A blazer is a specific cut of a jacket, so yes, I call it a blazer. Zara has fantastic classic navy blazers right now. Xo Mish

  41. A blazer is a blazer and a jacket is a jacket! Sheesh. I took note of the Snookie piece too in the NYT. I know I loose brain cells watching Housewives (all except LA), and have never seen Jersey Shore, but really! Was that necessary? Cultural icon? Goodness help us all!
Hope all is well with you & that the prep for the house is "moving" along. Why not have a blogger tag sale? LOL!
    My very best to you,
    Colleen

  42. Snooki is not my fave.. nor is any one of the Jersey Shore cast... yuck. PS. I say blazer too!!!

  43. Score one more for "blazer"! LOL, were those salespeople "born in a barn" (as my mother would say)? Have a great weekend! xoxo

  44. I call them blazers too! What is wrong with society!?!?

    ReplyDelete
  45. Of course it's a navy blazer. I called my son yesterday to tell him I found a great pair of white Polo slacks that will look so wonderful with his navy blazer at the frat social next week. He was so happy. Yes, here in South Carolina we still wear blazers! A jacket is for when we go to North Carolina to the mountains!
