I hope this blog finds everyone enjoying their Sunday. I've been thinking a lot about holiday traditions with my family. We took the boys to see The Nutcracker yesterday, I LOVE the music. It is literally my all time favorite! The boys were bored though. I'm curious if I'll ever be able to instill interest in the arts for them. I've also been neglecting my pearls, plan on wearing them much more in 2011.

Happy Holidays Beth! Boys are harder with that stuff. I hope you had a good time.
ReplyDeleteBeth, love the photo! The Nutcracker is one of my all time favs!!! ...xo HHL
ReplyDeleteadorable photo. luv those sweaters. thanks for sharing and take care.
ReplyDeleteI think you can...but maybe not in ballet. A good play?
ReplyDeleteWhat a great photo! I love your boys' sweaters! How "New England" with the lobsters!
ReplyDeleteI had a similar one for Livie a couple years ago (it was raspberry with a light pink lobster), but she outgrew it.
The Nutcracker is great, but I can see why boys wouldn't be into it. Maybe they'd prefer a musical (like The Lion King or something similar) or a jazz concert?
Jackson saw The Nutcracker with his class. When I asked him what was his favorite part, he replied, "Nothing". LOL
ReplyDeleteAww, I love the Nutcracker--I've been in it a few times, actually. Cute pic, too; their little sweaters are adorable!
ReplyDeleteI love love the Nutcracker.
ReplyDeleteI imagine that my brothers (even at their ages) and my husband would not be excited to be there.
I love Nutcrackers and I collect them.
What a great picture.
Awww I love the matching sweaters!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the lobster sweaters, too cute!!
ReplyDeleteDarling picture!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteDon't give up Beth. How else will they ever learn to appreciate theatre without you?
ReplyDeleteWonderful picture to treasure!!!! Mine too, gave me attitude when they were old enough to go...now they thanks me!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the sweaters!
ReplyDeleteI remember dancing in the Nutcracker numerous times. Since I am tall I was always stuck as a toy soldier...fighting off the Rat king and his fellow rats, lol!
Beautiful photo! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI adore The Nutcracker! Lovely photo :-)
ReplyDeleteXOX
Love those sweaters.....
ReplyDeleteprecious image!
Girl, you better pull those pearls out :p
The ballet is a tough sell on most boys, Beth. They don't buy into the magic and are without the attention span needed to follow the story, The Nutcracker included. However little girls get into the costumes and how beautiful the dancers appear.
ReplyDeleteTake the boys to see musicals in NYC or even to The Blue Man Group. When they are older take them to see plays and always make it a point to visit the art museum in any major city you visit. Look out for kid-friendly orchestra events and take them to see H.M.S. Pinafore if you see that comic opera offered. Just immerse them when possible and they'll end up loving the arts.
Such a lovely picture of you and your boys!! :) Hope you are enjoying the holiday season!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet picture of you and your handsome dudes! Love, love, love the sweaters.
ReplyDeleteGod bless ya and have the most incredible week sweetie!!!
Take them to "Stomp" or something of that ilk...that'll keep their interest!
ReplyDeleteWith 1 boy & 2 girls I will say that it is a little harder to bridge the cultural divide with boys. My approach was put in the effort & let go of the results. I am happy to say that at almost 27 my son is almost there!
ReplyDeleteHo ho ho,
Colleen
How fun! I love the boys' sweaters--too cute!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Thanks for the birthday wish! Hope you're having a marvelous Monday!

ReplyDeleteMy mother-in-law use to take my oldest Meredith to the Nutcracker every Christmas in Boston.....she has no interest in the arts as of now....Very disappointing. Oh well, maybe some day...
