WASP Wednesday

Hello preppy peeps! I hope everyone is having a great day. I'm on day 3 of zero sugar. First of all, I did a colon cleanse on Monday and drinking gatorade was part of that, so technically I had sugar (in the drink). But, the 1st day of anything I'm pretty gung-ho so I was feeling swell. Yesterday I must admit I was seriously hallucinating about brownies while discussing my sugar issues with bff Hermes (who, while we were talking, drank wine/ate an entire pizza and then was eating oreos.  Did I mention she is a size 0--hate her).  Good thing I have a terrible memory and completely forgot about the nutella stashed away for my son who got hooked on the stuff in France. Why do they pretend Nutella is a "healthy" spread?  That leaves us with today, my biggest obstacle being the peanut M&M's when I take the boys for hair cuts and the cinnabon stand at the mall when we go for new cleats. Holy temptations!!!

On another note I forgot to mention my thyroid has a cold, or at least that is how my doctor is describing it. Does anyone else have as sluggish thyroid? Well I do and not only do I have to take synthroid but I'm taking iodine. You guessed it, looking for thyroid advice!

We spent Christmas in Geneva, Switzerland. They had a Starbucks!

  3. I'm sayin...I laugh each time I see the Nutella commercial clamin' it as "healthy".

Your walkin' the good sugarless walk sweetie. I know nothin' about thyroids so I can't give any advice. Nope, not me...it wouldn't be prudent!!!! :o)

Enjoy you day sweetie and may it be richly blessed!!!

  5. M&M's and Cinnabon are not as delicious as a being a small size. Tell yourself that! Seriously you won't miss those things after a couple of weeks - they might even seem gross.

And I'm with Anon/linda,ny - see an endocrinologist. It would be a good idea to get to the bottom of the thyroid issue. Have them check your insulin as well.

  8. Stick to your will power ..YOU can do it!!! For thyroid I would suggest an endocrinologist ~ he can address your glands and any other areas ... its best to go straight to an expert.

Nutella ..hubby eats it by the spoonful .. (and he is fit and trim ..I look at it in a sealed jar and my pants get tight) ...in Europe it is a daily food staple ...xo HHL

  10. My Mama's thyroid was basically not active when I finally drug her butt to the Dr. Dec. 09! Once going on her thyroid meds. she went from a size 14 to an 8 doing NOTHING! She is so full of life and energy! All of her girlfriends have commented how they have the "old nMl" back! That little thyroid is one very important guy or gal! :) I too just went from a size 12/14 down to a 4 and one of my workout buddies said this to me...."NOTHING TASTES AS GOOD AS SKINNY FEELS!" Words to live by for me! I get my a** out of bed every morning at 4 a.m. to do 4 miles, 100 sit~ups, 40 push~ups, and 3 sets of chest flies. Then I go to school and work with 26 kindergarteners (that is a whole different work-out)! You can do this, SWEAR! Getting there is easy, staying there is a JOB!

    Love,
    Mrs. Kindergarten
(I will ask Mama what the meds are that she is takin'...)

  13. I'm so impressed I couldn't do that!!! My dinner consisted of wine and cookies I made with friends and then a starbucks cupcake later. This is not at all normal but hey who knows!! Good luck!!!

  15. Hang in there-- wishing you the best!

P.S. Where I live there is a Starbucks on nearly every street corner and inside most grocery stores (I'm not kidding)-- so to think of life without one is quite shocking! (:

  20. Years ago, before I had my tummy tuck, I did 16 weeks on Medi-Fast (the Liquid Diet) & also had to attend a behavior modification class they offered twice a week where we had to keep a journal on the amount of exercise, how much water was consumed, etc. It was then that I gave up drinking everything but water & have never picked up another soft drink since then. Liquor? While it wasn't allowed on the diet, I do still cherish my cocktails. I lost (healthily) 65 pounds of baby weight & learned to change some of my bad habits that were promising to kill me one day. The new habits have made my life ever so much better.

These days I get my sweet tooth satisfied by using Truvia in my green tea and having an occasional dessert of decadence. A girl simply can't diet ALL the time, right?

  21. Careful, too...I remember reading Marilu Henner's biography. She gave up sugar for years and then one night gave in. She CLAIMS she was very sick from it. I don't know if that's true or not, but apparently once you're off it, your system can't take it in large doses anymore.

  22. I don't think I could handle people eating oreos in front of me! Good luck with day 5 tomorrow!

  23. no sluggish thyroid here, but I did have Thyroiditis two years ago and lost my voice for a month and a half - my husband loved it.

  24. I have no thyroid advice, but am now on 25 of my detox and I can honestly say that I have no craving whatsoever for sugar. Thursday night I had a gathering here and had cupcakes, cookie, and candy out and was not tempted one bit. The only sugar I have had on this detox is from fruit. I have heard that once you get the sugar out of your system you no longer crave it. Not sure if it's true, but sweets have been the easiest thing for me to give up.

  25. BTW, I found 2 Starbucks in Lausanne as well. ;)

    Hope your cleanse goes well.
