Bows

A few weeks ago my preppy friend Jane asked, when you are too old to wear bows in your hair. I didn't answer her at first because I had to think about it. But then on a "bad behaving" hair day I put my hair in a pony tail and added a ribbon. Which reminded me of ladies I've admired over the years who are older than I am but look lovely with bows in their hair.

Do you agree?

  1. You look so pretty! I love bows in ladies hair. I always end up with one on my collar or in my hair after it falls off my daughter at some point or another during the day.

  2. I'm a LOT older than you. I wear a bow on my ponytail Every. Single. Day. I Love bows!!!! Of course, YOU look adorable!

  3. I love wearing ribbon tied around a pony tail, but since I look a lot younger than 40ish, I feel a bit childish wearing ribbon. Yet, it hasn't stopped me.

  4. I always put a bow in my hair and will probably do it forever. I just feel like it's a classic look. xo

  5. I know women who are in their 60's and 70's and are quite fashionable and have a bows somewhere in their hair.

  6. I think they're always okay! One time, I had an 8th grade student who thought that bows and ribbons made everything better. And they do, don't they. :)

  7. I love a ribbon and bow. Done right, they are both youthful and timeless.

  8. Absolute, positute...I think a bow (the right kinda bow) can be pretty at any age.

Now, I have to admit. I've seen some doozies in Wally~World 'round here. Just today I saw a women wearin' a Christmas bow as a hair ornament. Sorry...I didn't have my camera.

    My bad!

I love your hair up...with bow. Your just to darn stinkin' cute no matter what ya do.

God bless and have a grand day sweetie!!! :o)

  10. I did this all through college. I stopped for a while and then moved to grosgrain ribbon bow headbands...I love ribbons.; I think I will go back to it this spring. My sweet girl wears a big ole' bow in her hair everyday. xoxo

  11. You are GoRgI!
And the answer to your question is simple...
NeVeR! I adore bows, they make a pony~tail complete. A tail with NO bow is naked in my opinion...it's just wrong!

  15. I think your ribbon looks great. I guess it depends on style and color. I love the fabulous assortment of hair add ins today. I have some beautiful silk flowers that I love putting in my hair.

  16. Not sure... yours is very cute. Audrey Hepburn wore it and many girls followed. A Hermès scarf is an chic alterntive.

  19. Hello!

I think a ribbon/bow in one's hair-regardless of "age" - can look elegant and appropriate. I think what makes the difference is the rest of the outfit. If the wardrobe looks elegant and age-appropriate, the bow will look also. If the outfit is frilly, age-inappropriate, etc., then, I think the bow will fall into that category as well. Thanks for sharing!

PS-Love your "signature" photo at the bottom of the page! Lovely!

    Happy 2012
