Ladies Lunch

Hello Blends! Happy Thursday. Did you see the article in Vanity Fair about Ladies who Lunch? Or rather, did lunch. What I found most interesting was in the beginning of the piece the ladies that were selected to be interviewed were extremely against being labeled a LWL. They feigned overwhelming busy-ness to be able enjoy such a luxury. I'm not oblivious to the hardships this country faces economically, and understand why one would not want to be portrayed as filling their days with lunches/shopping/spa appointments. I believe by volunteering, paying your taxes and getting involved in the community you are being a good citizen. Spending money with your local stores and restaurants is also beneficial. But, my biggest pet peeve--is people that are SO busy. Everyone has a full plate or brain, but saying you are either so busy or too busy is a cop out. I think if you have time to have lunch with your friends you are playing a critical role in your sanity as being around loved ones reduces stress. Label it what you want, but I'm off to lunch with some lady friends!

I just finished the Hunger Games Trilogy and The Princess Trilogy. I'm dying for a new fun book. Any ideas? I've been stalking amazon.

  2. I agree that need for spending time with friends is critical to being able to forge on with the rest of life! Have a great lunch ( and thanks for including your shoes in the photo).

I agree with you - sometimes you have to take time to recharge, and what better way than to lunch with the ladies!

  6. Well said Beth! I hear about how everyone is too busy for the most basic things...lunch, TY notes, phone calls etc. But they always have time for 4 hours of TV every night!

  7. Totally agree my friend! Spending time with girlfriends over lunch is NOT A waste of time, as seems these ladies are implying. If anything it provides you with time to slow down and reconnect the "old fashion" way not via computer or technical device... Face to face, the personal human contact. Have a great lunch!! xo HHL

  9. I heart red pants! I may have to read that Vanity Fair ad - sounds interesting! I agree on the 'too busy' thing it is just another way of saying 'too important' which is of course highly rude. Lunch is so important - when I lived in Brussels it was an essential 2 hour part of the day - here is is all too often a hasty sandwich at the desk or coffee on the go. I am all for MORE lunching - to support the economy of course!

  11. Feeling rather sheepish about the lecture, I have to admit that I have been putting two sets of friends off for the last few months being too busy (but I really am!!!). One of them called and asked us for DINNER then...lol! She is a better friend than I. It's not that I don't enjoy going, it just does seem a luxury sometimes and I appreciate someone who organizes it rather than me. It's always good to reconnect and laugh or commiserate with friends!!
