WASP Wednesday

Happy WASP Wednesday. I can't remember where or when but I read and therefore wanted a night jacket. Or a sleep jacket??? Not sure what they are called but I thought one would be warm during cold months when I still wanted to wear pajamas or a nightgown without sleeves. Mine is from The Garnet Hill catalog but I've had it for a few years now.  Has anyone else heard of them or wear one?

  1. Oh, oh I know, I know what they're called. She says wavin' her hand like a wild woman.

Bed Jacket. I remember when my mama was preparin' for her hospital stay when my sister was born. She wanted plenty of bed jackets. They were like a stylish robe used in bed.

You look adorable in yours Miss Beth.

God bless and have a bang up day!!! :o)

  3. Love it!! It's funny the more things change the more the remain. I'm certain all ladies had one back in simpler times ... and I would love one, as you mentioned it is practical when wanting to not wear a long sleeve nightie or pjs during winter. xo HHL

  7. I have light blue quilted bed jacket that is perfect for sitting in bed, in the morning, and reading blogs with a cup of tea! So retro...and so comfortable.

  8. Bed jackets were tres popular in the 50's weren't they? I think it'd be great to have one or two.

  9. Yes, they're called bed jackets and a lady's must have probably through the '60s-'70s. Look at the old movies from the '30s and '40s. ALL ladies wore them during their hospital confinement as well as having breakfast in bed. They were silk and satin and lace trimmed frilly little things that matched your gown. Not to keep you warm but cover you up and look pretty. Love the quilted style. Perfect for winter months.

  11. I don't have one, but I could use one. I wear my robe over my pajamas during the winter to help me stay warm.

  13. I should definitely look into one of those, seeing as how I am always cold and my robe always causes my girls to say "mom, why do wear that same thing every morning?"

  15. How funny - I hadn't thought of these in years. My mother purchased one for myself and my two sisters when we were going to have our babies....it was something pretty to wear in the hospital. What a neat idea - I might have to buy another one!

  16. So cute! I have a few short vintage bed jackets that I actually wear as jacket-type layers - one has a fur collar and is beyooonnnd fancy! :) I also have a petal pink Scandia bed jacket that's for inside wear only :) It makes me feel like Betty Draper when I'm propped up against pillows reading at night!
