I'm a total SC!

Happy Friday everyone! I'm so excited to share this. Especially with Queen Bee Swain. This is hysterical. Sometimes when I write and I need an outfit for a character I literally walk into my closet and stare at it. Occasionally I also look on line too. When I was writing Social Climbers my main character loved Jack Rogers sandals. I'd seen something on E that Jackie O wore them. Until that point I did not like the Navajo look or the price. I just wore other sandals from Kate Spade and Lilly Pulitzer that I liked just as well. Well, when I heard Jackie O wore them I became a lot more interested. While in Florida a friend of mine had a pair with her monogram on them. Then, I was truly captivated and had to have a pair! In Naples, C Orricio had them and I promptly ordered myself a green pair with a hot pink monogram. When they arrived it was love. I've had them for several years and always get compliments. A few weeks ago I learned from another lovely blogger that Jack Rogers are actually knock offs--Stephen Bonanno being the original. You can imagine how humiliated I felt being the "socialite" expert that I'm touted as. I chalked it up to experience and went my merry way. After all I really do have better things to worry about (well not all the time as I really do love clothes). Well, today I was writing a pitch about my summer style and wanted to make sure I spelled Jack Rogers correctly. I went into my closet and grabbed the box with my "Jack Rogers" in them and much to my surprise....the box did not say Jack Rogers. It said STEPHEN BONANNO! How funny is this. Here I thought I was a total SC imposter and I'm really not. I just had to post a blog about it. It just goes to show you, as long as you are kind and fun it does not matter what is on your feet. We can all be socialites in our own way--even if we are in Jack Rogers or don't pay attention, buy what we love and put a smile on our face!
Have a great weekend!

I'm doing a radio show on Sunday morning. I know it's Mother's Day but I'll be back for a late lunch with Husband and son's. If youwant to call in and talk about my book, or Mother's Day or anything for that matter the call in number is 856.696.0092.
The station is 92.1FM in the Philadelphia/New Jersey area. I think you can listen on line www.wvlt.com

  1. Hey, Beth. If Jack Roger's are good enough for Jackie, then they're good enough, don't you think - ha!! But I DO love Bonnano's too. Trust me, they both get plenty of my $$.

Please, let us know if you make it to DC or anywhere in Virginia.

  5. Have both and worn them for years, SB are so much better! You can't compare. Very funny story. It is a HUGE thing who came first.. if Jackie wore JR or SB.... ??? All I know is... walk a mile in SB and your feet don't hurt, not so much for the others!! xxxxx me

  6. I love Jack Rogers and I'm damn proud of it! I had pink/white ones for years... so many years in fact that they had molded (as opposed to moldy!) to my feet. And one day last summer while I was running they fell apart. I was so sad. So I replaced them with white Jack Rogers with pearl jewels on the top and they are my favorite favorite sandal. I have a pair of Bonanos but they don't fit my feet as well. I'll stick with Jackie O and my Jack!!

  11. To each his own! Jack Rogers tend to run more narrow so I get the others. Yes I have big ole wide feet...ugh. ;-)

  12. P.S. I was watching the new Jonas Bros show on Disney last night (with my daughter) and when their "mom" came on (not their real mom) I told my daughter that I thought she looked like You!

  15. This is funny Miss Social, I love it! But really, they are pretty much on equal footing (oooh, that was bad) here at the Prepatorium, regardless of heritage.

    Have a stellar week!

  16. I love Jack Rogers and I grew up as a South Florida brat and never knew!!! How funny! I have an orange and blue pair to show my University of Florida pride, and others may have thought they were hideous, but I knew the truth...at the time...how funny that I fell a tad bit short. PS-Mine were from C. Orricio as well. That Jackie O. knew her stuff.

  17. I read where Jackie wore Stephen Bonanno's, not Jack Rogers. She is the one that made them famous. I have both. The Stephen Bonanno's are definitely better quality, but I have very narrow feet and the Jack Rogers fit me much better. Sometimes I feel like a traitor when I wear my Jack Rogers, but I love the Navajo sandals.

  18. I love them both...I just purchased a new pair of Bonanno's about a month ago and I'm thinking of purchasing a pair of Jacks right now!

  19. I love them both also...but I think I truly love my Bonanno's better!

  20. I don't think anyone really knows who came first, etc. who cares. I had Salarios then Bonannos. I am going to try Jacks because they are ready made. Can't stand to wait!

  21. Funny story!
My Bonannos are much more comfy than my old JRs because JRs are not all leather. Bonannos are 100% leather and conform to your feet, but I'm sure that you know that now!
    Have a great weekend! :)
