Lunch with Laura
This is a picture of my bff from college. We are in Maine in the photo.
The former first lady was very gracious. She reminds me of anyone who has been in her position. Very poised and controlled but trying to throw in some humor. Laura is really pretty in person. Her clothes are conservative, I would love to do a fashion make over on her. I got the sense that she could pull off a much tighter outfit if you know what I mean. She is tiny, but wears her clothes on the large side. It sounds like they are relaxing now that they are out of the White House. I'm sure it took a toll, but she is writing her book and decorating their new house in Dallas. I could not take a picture of her--it was not permitted. Sorry! I wish I could have. So overall it was breathtaking to see her only a couple of feet away. When I first saw her getting her omelet (yes that's what she ate), I felt chocked up. And I have no idea why. She talked a lot about 911 and how it changed their entire life. I'm thrilled to have had an opportunity to see her speak.
I'm trying really hard to figure out how to spruce up this blog. I'm not a "tech" person. I've been visiting all of your blogs a lot trying to get ideas. Thank you to everyone that has welcomed me, followed me and made kind comments. I know my book is called Social Climbers (and it is about mean girls), but I'm really all about being lovely to one another. You can read a free chapter of the novel at www.socialclimbers.net. I want to write a book about living the glam life on any budget. I hope everyone is having a wonderful day!
xoxo

Do you have any book signings planned in DC? Please let me know if you do!
ReplyDeleteMiss Beth- you are so gorgie and so fit! you MUST do a post on your workout/nutrition routine and secrets!
ReplyDeleteThank you for telling us all about your time with Laura- talk about the opportunity of a lifetime! The Bushes are so intriguing and much more intelligent than people give them credit for- I've had the fortune of playing golf with a former fiscal advisor to GW in his 1st term and he said that he was very bright. Cannot wait to read her memoirs and love that she is just tiny, even if she is in need of a new personal shopper!
Happy Cinco de Drinko!

I am sure it was wonderful to meet Mrs. Bush. I admire her in so many ways. She seems to be a very down to earth person. Thanks for sharing your adventures!
ReplyDeletehi...the title made me want to come and check out the blog. love it.
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by and leaving a comment. What an honor - you have one of the hottest books out there right now, I hope you know!! It is all the rage in my neck of the woods and all up and down the Eastern Seaboard. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteMy book is about a woman who stalks a family in her small neighborhood. But she stalks in a 'different way.' As soon as my publisher/publicist give me the go-ahead, I'll post a synopsis.
Wow! So exciting that you were able to hear Laura Bush speak. I have never had the honor, and have heard so many nice things about her.
ReplyDeleteAbout the blog spruce up....I hear you! I'm not tech savvy at all, but have found a fellow blogger who is going to help me I think :)
I left you something on my blog :)
ReplyDeleteLaura is such a lovely woman! I live only a few minutes from the Bush's new home and it's fun to drive by (you drive by the little cul de sac but can't go down the street - there are guards)...I drive by and wave at the cops! We have a favorite mexican food place right by my house and recently went and Laura had been there the night before. I'd love to see her in person! I've been to Kennebunkport twice and love to go over to Walker's Point and see if anyone is outside! :)
ReplyDeleteThat is so great that you got to meet Laura Bush! It sounds like she is a great lady and you enjoyed yourself. That is a wonderful opportunity!
ReplyDeleteLove the pic of you and your bff from college!
