SC Skincare

Happy Preppy Day!

Please don't think I'm a total narcissist but I've been talking to a lot of blends about skincare and with this COLD weather I've seen some posts about it. Plus, SC is very vain and takes painstaking steps to care for her aging skin.

KIDDING! Beer is not my trick (however I do drink wine so prevention is key here)
OK, well I'd just come off the rainy slopes, but it's 5:00 somewhere, right?
In celebration of the fact that I'm about to completely change my regime for 2010 I'd thought I'd answer the question I was asked, "what do you do for your skin?" I hope you are ready for this..

1st I drink Votre Vu snap dragon (collagen in a bottle), tons of water (with cucumbers as I get sick of plain water), & Green tea (anti oxidants)
2nd I sleep with a humidifier literally pumping humid air/water onto my face (promise you'll still like me when this post is over?) Plus, I sleep A LOT.
3rd. If I can't ski to give me a healthy glow I do yoga or go for a brisk walk
4th I'll start when I first wake up cause this even freaks me out:
(after brushing my teeth-a whole other post trust me is my teeth regime) I tone with rose water, apply lumene eye cream and burts bees radiance lotion with spf 15-so I have sun protection for said walk or at least trip to bus stop before I actually wash it
If I'm puffy from salt (or whatever) I put cucumber eye pads on my eyes (which I refrigerate) while my tea water is boiling

In the shower I wash with skincueticals glycolic wash
skincuetical toner
vitamin c serum-let it dry
phyto serum-let it dry
Metro gel (for rosacia)
firming skin cream and eye cream
SPF 30 (all products are skin ceuticals so I'm going to stop saying it)
Throughout the day I spritz my face with borba skin spray to refresh
I don't wear make up-except the occasional bronzer, mascara and eyeliner for a party or photo shoot
I get facials ALL the time and see a derm (but after 2 botox injections I don't do that any more)
2x a week I apply a mask(Borghese mud, Skincuetical mud, Lanonlin Agg Tval egg whites or a moisture mask). Wednesday's I do a mini spa day in the shower, Sunday a full one in the bath-again a whole other post for this ritual
I take Juice Plus vitamins and have taken omega 3s

Nights
wash with exfoliating wash and dry with rough wash cloth
Tone
exfoliating serum
B5 hydrating serum
Pigment Regulator
Finacea (for rosacia)
Night Cream (called A.G.E) and matching eye cream
Dermalogica multivitamin power firm on my lips

On lips throughout the day: blistex deep renewal (Q10), Murad energizing pomegranate, or Nivea rejuvenation Q10-several times a day

I'm sure I'm forgetting something but I hope we are all still friends now that you know how truly vain I am-I wasn't kidding! Tell me if you have any tricks. I'll be sure to add it. As you can tell I make plenty of time to take care of my face. Wait till I tell you the rest of what I do for my entire body!!!

xoxo

SC
PS Please don't tell husband as he'll start doing the math and realize all the boats he could buy!

  1. You have quite the regimen, I would love to hear about all of the other things you mentioned! One can never have enough beauty tips! Have a great night!

  2. Hmm. All I can say is that my "rosacea" vanished once I stopped with all irritating skin care products, i.e. anti-oxidants, fruit acids, peptides, etc. Now I use them sparingly, and the rosacea is gone...

  3. Holy sh$t...that is a long process!!! I guess it works cause you look great!

  4. WOW! I am in awe. But obviously it is working for you ..you are beautiful! If I could narrow it down like you I'd probably do the same! xox

  5. What a regimen! I want to try to get into green tea. I know it is so good for you but I am not sure if I will like it. I love cucumber eye pads!

  7. Dior makes a great toner - alcohol free - I'm addicted to it! In fact, I'm out and need to place an order, ASAP! I LOVE your regime and will totally have to try some of the products you listed :) You're not vain - you're taking care of yourself! I love it because I'm the EXACT SAME WAY!
    Cheers,

  8. Thanks for the tips! I have rosacea too so I have recently changed all of my facial products because I was sick of my cheeks burning. I will have to research some of the products that you mentioned.

  9. wow. And I thought using a toner, serum, eye cream and moisturizer after I washed up at night was a lot! Your skin is gorgeous though, so I am taking some suggestions! Thank you so much for these tips!

  10. Wow! How do you have time to ski and blog with all of that?!

  11. Wowsa! :) Thank you for sharing your beauty tips! You are stunning xoxo

  12. Geeeezzzz....I don't know what the hell I've been doing with my time. Comparatively I do nothing at all for my face. I use a total of 3 products on my face. I use Aveeno facial wash, Aveeno moisturizer with SPF, and Retin A. That's it. I don't know whether doing what I do or not doing what I do for my skin is right or wrong, but I have not found a product in my many years that works for me as well as what I'm doing. I wanted to try the Perricone products, but after seeing the cost decided my skin was not that bad.
The thing I like best about what you do.......you spend time on yourself. Very important. Just curious....how much sleep do you get? I know I don't get nearly enough. If I get 4 or 5 hours UNINTERRUPTED I consider myself fortunate. I haven't slept through the night in nearly 16 years. NO JOKE!

  13. WOW! That is beyond impressive! You look amazing! Not a day over 21 :) xo

  14. Thats an amazing regime, but it clearly works, your skin looks amazing. The omega 3s are key I think, my dad is a physician and he tells me that even if we don't see the benefits now, 20 years down the line we'll look much younger than others our age & be much healthier. I love skin products & spa treatments, aren't they the best?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Wow. You look wonderful & I need to buy some of those products! :)

    ReplyDelete
  16. I, too have a regimen but nothing like the one you have right now. Your skin looks amazing.

  17. JESUS CHRIST!!!!!

I don't even do a tenth of that, although at my age I should I suppose.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I am tired just reading that. My regime is incredibly simple in comparison... and not nearly as thorough as yours.

  19. WOW, SC, I am impressed! Clearly what you are doing is totally working - you look awesome and not a day over 19. :-) Try the Kiehls lip balm, a lot like Vaseline. You can apply it AM and PM, totally addictive and cheap at less than $10 a tube.

A great eye cream - ALL ABOUT EYES by Clinique. Again, cheap at $26-27 and has made SUCH a difference in my undereye circles and darkness. If they ever stop making, I'll be camping at the door of their HQ until they agree to produce again.

Another thing BamaGirl ♥'s, the Evian Mineral Water spray. I keep mine in the fridge and mist constantly, esp. during times of extreme cold or extreme heat. Keeps the skin hydrated and helps it glow.

Can you tell I'm also addicted to this subject??? I could go on forever but won't! You look mah-valous darlin'! XOXO

  20. and after all do you find time to eat OR sleep ???( i'm joking of course) !
i thought i was an extremist about my skin routine but in fact i'm just a rookie!

  21. You won't regret an ounce or second of what you do. I have had a routine for years...started with the good stuff at 30. Friends laughed, but now they see what I mean. I now have my husband on a routine.

There are actually a few inexpensive items that work well. I don't use them alone, but as another layer...it helps make the more expensive lotions and creams last longer because it takes less.

Make sure you include your neck upper chest in the routine.

  22. You look gorgeous..and with no makeup, very impressive. I use two products morning and night. DHC oil to wash my face with and Kinerase lotion to moisturize. No wonder I need a ton of make-up to get that natural look. Now that I am pushing 60 I am too lazy to do much else.
    Hugs,
    Sue

  23. you made me laugh so hard at the "please still be friends with me at the end of this..." and you're still my big sis. this was the best kick in the pants to get more dedicated to my skin- thank you so much! and MoMo salutes you for not needing to wear makeup save for your Social Diary appts.

  24. I'm still glad I have Blends after that post. I knew I would forget stuff-I use Retin A too but only when I'm not:going in the sun, skiing, getting a facial, getting an eyebrow wax so that pretty much leaves me with 2x a year to use it LOL
    xoxo

  25. i used to sleep with a humidifier, it definitely did help :)

  26. No wonder you look so damn good. I like you MORE after this post! Most gals would tell us, "Oh I just splash a little cold water on my face..." Thanks for being a gem & telling us your secrets.xoxo

  27. ..and I thought my A.M. and P.M. routine was long...wow!

    You gotta it goin' on!

    You look fabulous :)

  28. yes, humidifiers are great! dry air is the worst. My faves: 1. Olay microdermabrasion & Olay peel activator serum 2. Cetaphil Lotion 3. Dove Cream Oil Body Wash (In the shower) 4. Jergen's Natural Glow bronzer (makes you look like you've been tanning)(the only prob is if you then use dermabrasion it takes it off, so use derm 1st)good on legs too...just have to let it dry or it will turn your socks and pants brown) 5. Mudd Spa Treatment (tightens) 6. Patricia Wexler @ Bath & Body Works (her creams are lovely, esp the pink one) Must buy some more!)7. I love saunas...must get back for a massage & sauna @ Red Door! The best!! IT takes a lot of work in the winter...lots of fluids too...I also dont do Botox anymore...accept reality! Beauty starts on the inside! Love all your ideas...

    ReplyDelete
  29. WHEW! I'm tired just looking at that regimen. . . but I bet your skin looks better than my dry winter skin. : )I do love Vitamin C serum and use it daily. You're beautiful!! xx Bethany

  30. The snapdragon is getting rave reviews in health and fitness magazines lately too. The collagen and aloe vera are so good for your skin and the vitamins keep you healthy. You have to try our Tragic Magic Rescue Creme for rosacea! It soothes, decongests, desensitizes, rebalances and stabilizes! You can check the video out too. :)

  31. If only I could be so self-disciplined!

  32. Holy cow! It definitely works. Your skin is great. And yep, the hubs would freak if they really know how much it all adds up to. I haven't used the Skinceuticals B5 serum, but I do have the C E Ferulic. It's all great stuff!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Um, this post makes me totally feel like I'm slacking in the skin department. Haha! I use the Oil of Olay regenerist line and have been pretty pleased with that. I was using cosmedicine, but my derm said to not bother buying crazy expensive stuff unless it's prescription grade. Most otc stuff works the same. Your skin is beautiful so obvs you're doing something right!

  34. ...and here I just slather on the olive oil when I go out in the sub~zero weather to chore! Heeeheehe! I am serious here. AM I splash my face and add the Equate form of Neutrogena Health Skin. It contains all the vitamins, moisturizers and sunscreen I need. (I like it better than the Esete Lauder products I was using) I add the olive oil before I go outside. Wash it off in the evening applying Retain A letting it set for at least an hour then apply Virgin Coconut Oil about an hour before bed. I also add a humidifier to the bedroom. I use Bare Minerals make'up. Woohoo! The farm chick cleans up not half bad for an old gal!

    Have a 'beautiful' day!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I sleep with a humidifier too! I guess I'm lazy about skincare. I just use Neutrogena Healthy Defense moisturizer and the ocassional Neutrogena Grapefruit Acne wash if I'm stressed. I guess I'm lucky.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Holy moly, lady! You could open a spa right there in your bathroom and start giving facials. I would so be in line for one!

You've certainly got quite the skin care regimine...much more disciplined than mine. Of course, I stopped using Vaseline as eye makeup remover a long time ago. ;)

I owe a lot to my mother, too, who taught me the importance of good skin care. I've flip flopped around on products, but I've found that philosophy's purity made simple is the best facial wash for me. I'm currently using an eye cream by Benefit and my moisturizer flip flops between philosophy, Ole Henrikkson (sp?), Chella and Eucerin.

I also have a Clarisonic that I absolutely adore...I use that with philosophy's microdelivery wash for extra exfoliation.

    xoxo

  37. That is some regimen! Too bad they don't sell all of that in a one step bottle!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Ok I am seriously impressed! I follow steps 1 and 3 as you do, but I am affraid I drop the ball on your other steps! Yo uare a beauty, so it is obviously paying off!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Wow, that's a lot of skin prep. But, it must be working b/c you look fabulous. Cheers!

  46. Oh my, that wore me out! LOL... I actually use Principal Secret (college friend told me about it) and I love it! And night cream is a must for 40-year-old skin! Also, drinking green tea is amazing. I drink it all the time.

  50. I use about 4 Sothy's products at some point once a day. I am terrible about remembering my skin, but somehow my skin is pretty great...I didn't grow up as a beach family so maybe since I never got a huge amount of sun on my face.
