WASP Wednesday

I hope this blog finds everyone well. I'm really well, I have news but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to blog about it. I also hope all you Main Line girls will be at Lilly Pulitzer tomorrow for our Team Challenge fund raiser at Suburban Square-there is not a cost to attend!  I get a lot of questions. I love it, thank you. But, the main one (and most humbling) is my diet and exercise regime. Please note, I'm not a size 2 but I take great care of myself. So here we go!

I'm a true believer in NEVER dieting. Instead I try to love myself (try being the operative word).  When I wake up I drink tea and take a ton of vitamins: calcium, vitamin d, b vitamins, fish oil, baby aspirin and COQ10.

I exercise every day but Sunday. I love taking a brisk walk (the sunlight has natural vitamin d) and the fresh air must be healthy-right? 2 days I do weights but not biceps curls, it's called something but just read the truth about 6 pack abs (which I do not have), it is weights but uses multiple muscles at once.  I finish off with breathing by Body by Zna and stomach vacuums (I do not do crunches-waste of time). Saturday's I horse back ride.

I live on the 1 food ingredient diet. If a food has more than one ingredient I don't eat it. I eat eggs, meat, fish, cheese, avocados, potatoes, beans. You can make a dish with more than one ingredient, but in their original formula they should be one ingredient. I also avoid soy, sugar, and wheat. But I love wine!

I want to get back to the loving of yourself. Don't look at the fat--look at your soul. Who you picture yourself as is more important than a dress size or a scale weight. One of the reasons I'm at the spa, or Lilly Pulitzer is I taking loving care of my body and it responds by being healthy in return.  Stay strong and love yourself!

  1. fabulous advice and I adhere to much of the same! except I do bicep curls, but my trainer has this crazy routine that gets re-written every 6 weeks for me and b-c's are part of them and Sandi is the most physically in shape and intense person I've ever met so I do what I'm told!

    love the pants btw

  3. Beautiful post Beth! If only everyone could take such a simple and loving approach to their body. It's the "diet" food we drink and eat that is making us fat. If I don't know what an ingredient is I don't eat it! (Sodium benzoate anyone?) Thanks for this!

  5. I chase wild-eyed cows! Heehehehe! I also walk with weights and do yoga. It is not unusual for me to work in the yard 5-6 hours a day on top of all the other manual thing that happen on the Ponderosa. Heck, I don't need no stinkin' gym. :o) You look marvelous Beth!

God bless a enjoy this day!!!

  7. I'm in total agreement on eating right and not actually dieting. That said, I do have days when I think I just look adorable and other days when I see myself as obese. I'm sure my early years of training & being called chubby had something to do with that frame of mind... But, a smarter diet is always the more desirable than starvation, which I've also done. Healthy is best...

  8. I adore this post. It's so true. No one else is going to love us if we don't love ourselves first.

  10. I love how candid you are in your blog. I think you should do a whole lifestyle book. Beauty. Skin. Diet. Love. A socialite's guide to the good life. You have it down, girl!!

  12. I don't understand the phrase, "You can make a dish with more than one ingredient, but in their original formula they should be one ingredient." Can you please give an example of what you mean by this? Thanks in advance.

Oh, and who makes the pants? Nice silhouette and they look great with a pointed-toe shoe.

  13. I didn't realize that you were on the main-line. Are you going to the horse show (figured you might if you used to ride).

BTW - almost all of the women that go to my yoga classes (@ Club La Maison) have 6pack abs.

  14. A- one ingredient foods (veggies, beans, meat, eggs) can all be combined to make a stir fry or casserole. Just don't eat anything from a box with a list of ingredients! Thx for your comment. Also I read Louise Hay-that is where I get the "love and accept yourself" info. But plan on reading the book Oprah had on yesterday!

  22. Great advice! I love taking brisk walks especially when it's so nice out now. I like running, rollerblading, and when I'm not feeling up to the former.. I just walk my pup. :)

However, I'm confused when you discussed your diet. Why don't you like soy products? Have you heard anything bad that I don't know? Fill me in, please! lol

    Have a lovely weekend!
