Beauty Product Feedback

Hi and happy Tuesday. One of the new books I'm working on chronicles beauty/health/exercise/dressing/decorating style with tips on how to do all of the above on a budget but also which splurges work. I bought my first tube of La Mer

I've used their eye cream and thought it was nice, but I've used others with similar results that are less expensive. However, I know people that live for this cream. I didn't get the serum or night cream. Just the day cream. Please share your experience with La Mer. Should I get the whole line to really see a difference?

  1. From someone who worked in the Cosmetic industry for many years, I can tell you one thing. The only thing that gets rid of wrinkles or sagging is surgery.
I have tried high end to low end, one may be a little creamier then the another, but they will do the same thing.
The best thing you can do for your skin is exfolite. If you don't exfoliate, the cream/serum will not penetrate, and if it doesn't penetrate it will not plump the skin. And that is exactly what any cream will do, plump the skin for a small period of time. I am sure if you talk to someone at the cosmetic counter they will tell you about the ingredience in the cream and yada yada, yada. It is up to you how much money you want to spend on a product. I think some women like to say they use this cream or that cream as a way of letting you know how much money they have to spend. They should spend it in the surgons office instead. Hope this helps.

  3. I used it years ago and didn't see too much of a difference...but that was years ago. xoxo

  4. I love my La Mer crème! I have never tried any of the other products. What do you think so far?

  5. I have used La Mer face cream for the past seven years and would never change...unless I am not able to afford it! I have sensitive skin and I use it at night only. My skin loves it and I am very happy with the way my skin looks and feels. I have worked for plastic surgeons for years and have tried many creams. Working in this field has allowed me access to some of the more 'medical' lines, but I never found one that could produce the results that La Mer does, for my skin. I have used the eye cream for many years, too. Love it! I am sensitive to so many and this one is perfect for me.

    Warmly, Kathleen

  6. At a silent auction I was once the high bid on a basket of La Mer. Because of that I tried the entire line. Yes, it is nice but so are many other products from companies like Kiehl's, Trish McEvoy, Kate Somerville, Mario Badescu and Dr. Perricone. The best things you can do for your skin is be religious about sunscreen, don't smoke, have a facial/exfoliate, get plenty of sleep and to stay hydrated with lots of water while limiting your alcohol consumption. If you get too much sun and smoke no amount of facials or products will erase the evidence.

  7. For my two cents, I tend to agree with Tote and Anonymous.....Some formulations work best on each of us than others, however, nothing beats: drinking lots of water, cut down on sugar(s), dermatological visits, proper exfoliation( with a clarisonic/facials/chemical peels etc) and sunscreen.

  8. I know it is personal taste, but I do not like the scent of La Mer at all. I tried the night cream once and it made my face & neck very itchy so I washed it off immediately. I do love my OLAY eye cream and night cream, though. :)
