Love Story II

Happy WASP Wednesday!!

When selecting the proper mate there is only 1 thing to keep in mind. They PICK YOU! Yes, that is right, they select you. Each and every boyfriend I ever had liked me first. The other rule with love, it's like a dance. You take a step forward, they take a step back.  Now, since Husband and I were set up the playing field was not level. But, I could tell Husband was into me as he displayed non stalkerish interest.

On our first date we conveniently passed by his apartment on the way to my car. I later learned we had gone out of the way. To "warm" up we entered so I could  use the powder room. I noticed his apartment was super cool and clean (a complete lie normally). But a sign he was showing off, also he kissed me, another good sign-but I still got the heck out of there. Later, He called me and made plans to take me out, and not just to dinner or drinks. We went on hikes etc.

Right away I could tell Husband was the one. (not love at first sight, it took a few dates.) I established Husband went to Dickinson college. This is where my Father attended, and worshiping Daddy as I do this was a great sign for Husband. They were in different fraternities but I was willing to overlook that since they were from different generations.  Also, he skied-a prerequisite in our family.

At this post I want to give my top places to find a man. I do want to mention that I believe in Eharmony. My bestie Mimi met an amazing man that way.  Other places:
Alaska (in the summer). No, I'm not kidding. The ratio of men to women is like, 20:1
Charity committees & volunteerism. Men have jobs they have to promote themselves and network
Chamber of commerce networking events, crawling with men!
Sporting events
Sports bars
Golf course, and club house afterwards
Ski resorts
Home Depot or Lowes
Colorado
Nice restaurant bars (particularly after work)
Casinos, men go there in droves for bachelor parties on the weekends. The groom is taken, but not all the grooms men

I think you catch my drift, go where men hang out. And it isn't at the mall, or spa.

I hope you are enjoying what I "know," but please note: I "know" nothing.

Collars Up!

  4. I'd like to add hardware stores--lots of men there and most are happy to help! Of course, I'm married now and, thankfully, to a very handy man so no more hardware stores for me! lol

  5. I like how you guys did "activities" like hiking. A guy recently told me that girls bond over chit chat and guys bond thru experiences!

  8. Brilliant! And I think it addresses a rookie mistake that so many women make. We're probably not going to meet our men hanging out in the shoe department at Nordstrom... though that is arguably where we are happiest. :)

Your family is just too adorable in that picture!
Hope you are having a great day!

  11. As a man I must state, "you acnot change us".
Now that does not mean we cannot change, or that you cannot inspire, but really, change is an internal personal thing and we hairy beasts are proud creatures with well ingrained habbits and mannerisms.

How does this apply? Just remember that most likely if you go to a locale to find a guy, you will catch the kind of guy who goes to those kinds of places. So if you meet him at a sports bae, don't expect him to stop going to sports bars. If you don't like what happens at bachelor parties in casinos, don't catch a guy who is attending a bachelors party in a casino.

I met my wife in church. Of course because of that I couldnt ever quit church even if I wanted too.

  15. How precious that he took you (competely out of the way) by his apartment to show off :) I totally agree with everything you said! You really do have to place yourself "in their sight" in order for them to find you. Or, be fixed up! haha

  19. Advice to single ladies, try to "think like a man" - that's the best way to find one. :-) LOVE your tips! And you're soooo correct about Alaska - they are hurting for hot ladies up there! XOXO

  20. Great tips once again! I believe it's true that they "pick you." That's what happened with my bf and it was nice to be pursued even if it takes a couple dates for us girls to be persuaded :)

  21. These are great posts! I do think relationship books are helpful. I also read "Why Men Love Bitches". Terrible, terrible title, but a friend loaned it to me, and the message inside was wirth the awful title! Helped me so much when I finally met my husband, I had the right attitude.

  31. You are so right about them picking you. My husband noticed me in a college class before I even knew he existed. He actually told a friend that he could date me. Well, not only did he date me but he married me too. Our anniversary is April 17th.
    Happy Anniversary Beth!
