WASP Wednesday

I hope everyone made it through the earth quake and is preparing for Irene.

I've learned something new about mean girls. Something, I'm sad to say, I'd never thought about before. I plan to include it in my new book but in the mean time wanted to share with you all. Imagine if someone is "THAT" critical of others what they must say to themselves. Really imagine, their internal dialog must be brutal. If someone is hard on others it means they are even harder on themselves. It's such a shame. Please try to say nice things to yourself, be kind to you!

  1. Wow...that is a really good thought (not that it excuses causing pain to others) but interesting to think about where that "mean" comes from. I hope you have a wonderful Wednesday!

  3. I don't know, Beth. The mean girls I've known throughout my life really thought highly of themselves. Maybe I'm just not as nice as you are....

  4. I have never thought of this! I do believe almost everyone is much harder on themselves than anyone else. Very insightful.

  5. And...they are having that reinforced at home....starting from birth.

  6. I can't agree with you more. As the mother of a 6-year old daughter, I dread adolescence and the rise of mean girls. I pray every day that the girls in her class will continue to treat each other with kindness and respect as they get olderm, and that the bullies will stay at bay. I know, perhaps a bit unlikely, but I still pray for it. :)

  8. How true! As a teacher for 20 years I can tell you, the meanest girls are the least secure.

  9. I always wondered if their parents were hard on them and that came out in how they treat others. But I agree, it doesn't excuse their behavior.

  10. Very well said! Thanks for sharing. I'd have never thought of it that way either, but it's so true... suppose walking a mile in another's shoes applies to mean girls too!

  11. That's a really wonderful insight, Beth. I've always thought meanness was rooted in insecurity.
