Morning Blends. When I began blogging (sorry I don't keep track of my 100th post or my blog anniversary well) I was promoting my novel Social Climbers.
Lilly Pulitzer was helping me with my book tour and dressing me for a few press interviews. They casually mentioned I should check out the Lilly loving blogs. I never knew such a thing existed. I immediately went to find you all and revamped my blog because of you all. I was so excited to find my "tribe" as it's called in social media networking. Not to sell you my book but because I loved being surrounded by people who shared similar interests. That's hard to find in life.
Once I'd beaten the Social Climbers promotion to death I kept blogging because it was so fun. But like many of you (or not) I don't always have anything going on, or I'm in a foul mood or I'm boring. I watched as many of my original friends in Blog land quit. I wondered why I was still blogging. Obviously it takes me 5 years to write a book (House Bunny is a full time job at the Frat House), so what was I promoting?
A few months ago I was reading a blog (sorry don't remember which one) and the author wrote about why she blogged. It finally clicked! I'm not here to promote anything (well occassionally, ha). This is my photo album. This is my legacy for my son's. I leave a lot out. I try not to discuss my personal problems, my political views or anything too controversial. But one day, when I'm old and my son's are grown they will be able to look at this on line time line of what went on in our lives.
This renewed my interest in blogging. It has breathed new life into me and my blog. When you do something for something greater than yourself it is gratifying.
