Preppy Summer

I'm either TOO boring or busy to blog. I believe it is the latter. The other day at a regatta a parent said to me "I think we chose the wrong sport." hmmm.....I think he was right. Sailing starts 1st thing in the morning and lasts all day. Isn't soccer over in an hour? ugh!

There's Greye on the water.

Summer Hair

Hello and Happy 4th of July weekend!

About 3 things I know during the summer. The weeks are erratic with Greye's sailing schedule but come Friday my schedule is clear (which is the exact opposite during the school year).
Friday's we watch the Bay races at The Ocean City Yacht Club over drinks and dinner with friends.
Saturday we go out on our Boston Whaler. We either go to lunch or go water skiing with friends.
Sunday we go to the beach, again with friends.
I love living at the shore! But....What is to be done with Summer hair?

It's a MESS! Getting a blow out today.

Happy Thursday!

This week took off full force, past deadline I've been writing like crazy AND Greye started sailing camp. Which consumes my life. Some Mummy's are soccer Mom's...I'm a regatta mother--I live in yacht clubs for the next 8 weeks. To add to this club habit Husband also races our sailboat on the weekends so I'm not even a little kidding when I say I LIVE in yacht clubs. I know all of the staff by name and they know us too. It sounds way more glam that it actually is, by the end of the summer I do not shed a tear when they lower that flag to officially close for the season.  I am super ambitious for the summer: I have set a few goals
Wear as much yellow and turquoise as possible.

Collect turquoise so above said goal can be accomplished

Continue to practice surfing (with hot instructor of course)

Move into beach house in summer so I can go home rather than hang out at yacht club

I'm sad today's news of my blond mink being beyond repair has put me in a funk and will be a major set back for above goals. Please pray for my coat! What are your summer goals?

Summer Favorites!!!!

I've been tagged by my bloggy friend Queen Bee Swain. I know you are already reading her but in case not go to
http://queenbeeswain.blogspot.com/
Because she is absolutely delightful and upbeat!!! Thank you for the tag--my favorite summer memories etc.

Fav Summer Movie

We seriously have movie "seasons" in our home. I have certain fav's I have to watch at Christmas too. But for summer I love-

Jaws! and The Flamingo Kid....I also enjoy seeing the new blockbusters with my son's. We loved Transformers this year and as many of you know I finally discovered Twilight

Fav Summer Cocktail

I love cocktailing in the summer. I kind of like to cocktail in general. I'm a huge fan of California Chard--J. Lohr. But I also enjoy a home made Margarita from time to time. I'm kind of boring in this category. Sorry.

Fav Summer Song

I live vicariously through songs/music. I love listening to loud music in my car. I love

Boys of Summer
Lose Control
Doing the Helen Keller
Shake It
Girlfriend

I could go on and on

Fav Summer Meal

This is sooooo easy! Lobster/King Crab Legs/Crab Cakes/Hard Shell Crabs--any and all seafood--yummy

Fav Summer Outfit

I live for clothes. I love Lilly Pulitzer--it is a summer staple. Let's face it when you are hot nothing looks more polished than a pressed cotton shift, a little kitten heel open toe shoe and lots of bangles. Even if you are a mess. I also love when it starts to get chilly. I'll wear shorts with heels and then a cashmere sweater.

Fav Summer Read

I have to say I've been a bit dissapointed with my summer reading. I'm hoping when I buy the Twilight series that will change. I wish Plum Sykes would come out with a new book or that author of The Devil in The Jr. League.

Fav Summer Moment

I have fond memories of summer. And each year in aticipation of summer I recall just how lovely it is and wait with baited breath. But now that I have children I have to say it is hectic. I don't want to sound like a total baby but I've barely had time to exercise or bath since all I do is cart my oldest to regatta's. Whine whine whine. Before children I loved sitting on the beach and then sitting around the beach house laughing over cocktails. I love to walk/run on the beach (can't remember the last time I did that). But my fav moment I guess is going on our boat and seeing the smiles. I have yet to water ski this year (again whine whine whine). I do love going to Maine. I think my best memory is sitting by the pool, looking out at the river, reading a magazine in peace. Oh yes and hearing my children laugh (I don't want to sound like a total spoiled sport).

Now I get to tag people to tell us their summer favs:

Lillies and Grapes--she'll need something to do while she recovers
Bella Dreams
Things to Share
Step Inside
Mean Girl Garage

Top 5 Favorites of summer!

We went to LBI for the weekend. Even though we live near the beach going to a completely different beach town feels like a vacation. My girlfriend has a house up there and it was so fun to just sit around. When I'm home I feel like I should be "doing something" all the time. Then feel guilty if I'm not. It was so relaxing. Although I do feel tired today. Probably good I'm having a coffee meeting a little later.

Domestic Diva tagged me for top 5 fun things you love about summer! Then I get to tag people to share their 5 fun things.

1. I love going to the beach with a couple of other families. We bring food, drinks, bud light lime beer. The children swim, surf, boogie board. We sit and watch them so they don't drown. The husbands talk about sports. The ladies sit in our chairs and gab. It is so relaxing. When we get home our son's go in the pool. I clean up, make dinner and enjoy the screams "cannonball" coming from the pool. After everyone is set for bed I take a shower and climb into bed myself. I always feel happy!

2. Going out on our boat. We have a motor boat because we love to water ski! Just watching everyone take their turns and the smiles on their faces leaves a perma grin on my face. Much like the beach we always have some ice cold beer with limes.

3. Friday night sailing races. Our club has sailing races most Friday nights. My oldest son and husband go out with friends of ours. The wives sit on the deck, order food and literally don't watch the race. It is just the act of going and being on the water.

4. Going to Maine. My best girl friend from college has a house in Maine. It is beyond beautiful up there. We love that our children are growing up together. We don't live close to each other year round so this is our time together--no husbands. We shop, go out to eat, or sit around. My girl friend is an amazing cook. I dread going cause I always gain weight. That is the only down side.

5. Picking out Lilly Pulitzer outfits, jewelry and shoes. I love deciding what to wear to each event!

I love summer!

Hope everyone is having a great Monday!
