Preppy Challenge

So I thought it would be fun to re read The Official Preppy Handbook and see how I still fit in and how outdated it is. I opened it to page 11 (just past the Chapters/Index/Contents).  The first sentence...
"It is the inalienable right of every man, woman and child to wear khaki,"

This is for my girl at Entertianing Home/Kitchen  Jessica

I'm not only wearing Khaki pants but my yellow rain slicker from Eagles Eye (my lone item from the brand)!

We were in LBI for a regatta, in the rain and enjoyed a lovely lunch at The Blue Whale

1st day of preppy challenge--check!

Stay Preppy

xoxo

  2. I was cleaning out a bookcase a few years ago and found my copy from college. What totally freaked me out what how much my family resembled the drawing of the prep family....I always wondered why four kids seemed to be the right number to me. It was subliminal influence from TOPH!

  3. Oh man, I might have pull out my pink Izod polo, add-a-bead necklace and Khaki pants - which I always made sure matched my wooden-handled, changeable covers monogrammed purse (usually the pink shirt called for the green cover on the purse).

  5. Oh, how I wish I still had my copy from my high school days. I don't know what I was thinking when I reluctantly threw mine away as I was packing up my things from my parents house right before I was getting married almost twenty years ago.

  13. It's still a fun read! Love that my hometown is mentioned - Grosse Pointe, Michigan. Boarding school life, isn't what it used to be that is for sure at least when I went away to boarding school! Also, it gives great ideas for registering, wish more brides would register for silver servware, silver flatware, china and formal stemware - sorry but registering for a snuggie isn't going to cut it! People are going so practical these days, they will regret it down the road! HA! HA! :)

  17. Looks like the preppy queen to me, ya little fashion diva, you. I love the fact that ya topped it with a slicker and accented it with the orange purse. I have khakis. Would that make me a preppy farm chick?

    Have a fun filled day!!!

  18. So cute. When I shop, I always have a "scenario" for why I need an outfit. Like, "ooh I can where this yachting one day! and if there's a chance of rain-I need this to go with it!" This one is going on my list!

  20. I love your post!!!

    Aren't you cute! LOL

Love your raincoat! LOVE LOVE LOVE your bag.

I'm still in angst over the fact that my mother GAVE AWAY my copy of the Handbbook when they sold the apartment in NYC. I still have HUGE issues over this. My dance, music and regular schools were mentioned. The entire book was dog eared. I was upset to learn not too long ago that the whole book was a mockery. Maybe one day I will fork over the change and get another copy.

And now I have a confession to make. I hate khaki. It looks TERRIBLE on me. I have a pair of khaki pants but never wear them.
