I've been rethinking my jewelry uniform. Usually I coordinate my accessories with what I'm wearing. Sometimes I long for a set of daily basics that look great together so I don't have to give it as much thought. I always wear my engagement ring, wedding band, and a tank watch. Since it was Husbands birthday and he always says he wants me to be happy I decided adding this to my collection would make me happy!
Happy birthday husband! Thank you for always making me happy!
I'll be sure to share the new daily jewelry concept once it is complete. Two items are being resized and I can't wait to unveil my new "don't have to think about what to wear" look.

Socialite Saturday
Having nothing to do on a weekend is my favorite. It ends up getting filled with all kinds of exciting things anyway. Today I'm horse back riding. My son has a lax tournament so Wyn and I will have a whole day together. I hope everyone is having a fabulous day! More pictures from Devon Horse Show!
You can see the name of our barn in the background. It was a lovely party!

Socialite Saturday frenzy
5 years ago my doctor induced me so that my son and Mother could have the same birthday. I gave birth to this:
Thank you God for gracing our family with Winfield Scott Dunn, named for his Grandfather and uncle. He is my little red headed devil. I'm not kidding when I say I may visit this child in jail one day. I love you little angel baby. I can't believe you are 5! I love you so much it hurts! Now I have to go shopping as I'm expecting millions of little babies today to swim in our pool. I hope you never lose your spunk kiddo-knock them dead. Happy Birthday.
Some lucky girl will marry this child. He brings me presents every day (toothbrushes) and gives me flowers everyday (who knows where he picks them). And puts the flowers all over my room and bed. Such a little love!

WASP Wednesday
I hope this blog finds everyone well. I'm really well, I have news but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to blog about it. I also hope all you Main Line girls will be at Lilly Pulitzer tomorrow for our Team Challenge fund raiser at Suburban Square-there is not a cost to attend! I get a lot of questions. I love it, thank you. But, the main one (and most humbling) is my diet and exercise regime. Please note, I'm not a size 2 but I take great care of myself. So here we go!
I'm a true believer in NEVER dieting. Instead I try to love myself (try being the operative word). When I wake up I drink tea and take a ton of vitamins: calcium, vitamin d, b vitamins, fish oil, baby aspirin and COQ10.
I exercise every day but Sunday. I love taking a brisk walk (the sunlight has natural vitamin d) and the fresh air must be healthy-right? 2 days I do weights but not biceps curls, it's called something but just read the truth about 6 pack abs (which I do not have), it is weights but uses multiple muscles at once. I finish off with breathing by Body by Zna and stomach vacuums (I do not do crunches-waste of time). Saturday's I horse back ride.
I live on the 1 food ingredient diet. If a food has more than one ingredient I don't eat it. I eat eggs, meat, fish, cheese, avocados, potatoes, beans. You can make a dish with more than one ingredient, but in their original formula they should be one ingredient. I also avoid soy, sugar, and wheat. But I love wine!
I want to get back to the loving of yourself. Don't look at the fat--look at your soul. Who you picture yourself as is more important than a dress size or a scale weight. One of the reasons I'm at the spa, or Lilly Pulitzer is I taking loving care of my body and it responds by being healthy in return. Stay strong and love yourself!
xoxo

Socialite Saturday!
A day in Lilly Pulitzer shoes.
Enter to win tons of preppy stuff at THE PREPPY MAFIA Giveaway!!!
Awesome socialite Saturday. Went riding, went to a cancer sucks fund raiser and tomorrow is Mother's Day. What are you doing for Mothers Day? I wore Lilly Pulitzer shoes today. You all know I LOVE Lilly Pulitzer, but I find their shoes (at least the ones I own) to be absolutely adorable but can make my feet ache. In my sneak peak, behind the scenes tour this winter I spied a few that I think will reverse said opinion. I have my eye on a wedge among others I plan on buying at the event next Thursday. I'll always wear Lilly Pulitzer--even if they are a 2 hour shoe!

Socialite Saturday
Hello and Happy Socialite Saturday. I trust this blog finds everyone having a great weekend. SC is busy (and I prefer quiet weekends). I don't even have time to ride-tear.
Last night Dockside, the outdoor restaurant at The Inn At Sugar Hill opened. Stunning night with friends!
Today-Greye's Lacrosse Game, Lilly's Christening party, Dinner at Knife and Fork
Sunday-brunch At Borgata (atlantic city) with Tom Brokaw
Next week is insane, not just shoes but I'm going to New York City to be on the Dr. Oz show. I'll keep you posted as to when it airs. Oh yeah and I'm doing a presentation at a tea for 100+ people. STRESS!

Happy WASP Wednesday!
I hope this blog finds everyone having a lovely day. SC finally went to a real doctor, no I did not go to the spa. I really met with a therapist and she seems amazing. Since I don't want to take pharm meds for my ADD and anxiety she told me to take a lot of supplements: vitamin B, fish oils, calcium, D3, magnesium, potassium, COQ10. OMG My ADD is out of control-some I take in the morning, some at night, some with food, some without. I also got a beta blocker for public appearances (major anxiety sets in when I have to public speak). She wants to treat me for anxiety with an anti depressant, I want to treat ADD. We agree to disagree until next appointment. Wish me luck, but I'm still wearing skirts!

Happy Socialite Sunday!
I hope this blog finds everyone enjoying their day. Riding yesterday was AMAZING! I hit Boot and Bridle only to be completely distracted by Keil Patrick James amazing bracelets. Had to get one for Greye. Then I picked up some new paddock boots, jodhpurs, gloves and helmet. Wow, riding is an expensive sport. I also had a very successful shopping spree at The Preppy Palm. Today....I feel like laying in bed all day.

Happy Socialite Sunday!
Happy Anniversary Husband. I love you!
Husband, being an eye surgeon, checked my eyes at some point during our courtship. He told me I had the most beautiful eyes he'd ever seen, and he'd know-he's an eye doctor. Aw! I thought that was the cutest thing he ever said to me. I believed him as I have blue eyes and while I've never thought them stunning I figured he was delusionally in love with me. Years later at a party I was speaking with a pleasant gentlemen who turned out also to be an ophthalmologist. After explaining husband is in same profession he said, " I bet he told you that you had the prettiest eyes he's ever seen and he'd know because he's an eye doctor. Right?" Shocked and suspicious my eyes were pretty, I said, "Yes, how'd you know?" He explained, "They tell us to say that the first day of school." I did not speak to husband the rest of the evening.
Once married I've developed a theory. You have to be a bit of a bitch. I don't like to be, but it's something I've learned from other successfully married couples (celebrating 20+ years rather than 12.)
Husband and I honeymooned in Fiji. When we returned I lived in a new town and had a new last name. I rerecorded my voice mail with my new name and went about getting a new license and social security card. I tried very hard not to make a mistake when introducing myself. I was no longer Beth Willson, I was Beth Dunn. We had an event the first weekend we were home for the hospital, Bob Newhope was the speaker. It was a black tie affair in Atlantic City where I would be his wife for the first time, I was excited to go. Forgetting to eat and having wine is never a good combo for me. We were chatting with a fellow surgeon when husband introduced me as Beth Willson. I was so angry! Here, I'd tried all week to be Beth Dunn and husband had already forgotten! Our entire 1 year engagement he frequently asked me, "Are you Done yet?" (Get it Dunn?) I refused to speak with him and continued to drink wine. He finally dragged me away from dinner, annoyed that I was being psycho. We were gifted a large basket of salt water taffy from James which I promptly threw at his head (my aim was slightly off as I had been drinking on empty tummy). I missed, it landed by his feet. I don't think my actions clarified my sanity. Husband proceeded to pick up the basket and grab me by the arm and throw me in our car-a wedding present. We get a laugh about our first fight.

Socialite Saturday
Hello!
Today Husband and I are celebrating our anniversary (although it isn't until tomorrow).
Husband and I had, what I call a Country Club wedding. They are very normal on The Main Line as we don't have beaches or mountains to marry on. But first...getting the ring.
Husband was moving to the shore and beginning his first job post school. We'd been dating for a year. In Peurto Rico over dinner I asked him what about me? Husband's mother had passed away and he was going to live at home with his father, keep him company so to speak. Since we could not share a room, the thought of summering at his Father's house did not appeal to me. Husbands solution to this was he would rent me a condo on the bay. I began to cry. Which, btw did not phase him, he continued to eat and stared at me like "what?" MEN!
I had to come up with plan b as I was not about to let him rent me some pad, and feel like a kept secret is said condo. After drinking a bottle of wine with a friend I came up with a solution. Husband entered my apartment and my friend said her goodbye's. "Darling, you are moving and I am staying here. What is our plan? I don't want to drift apart. You will be busy with your new job and your father really needs you, but I need you too." Husband digested what I said, "Are you asking me if we are getting married?" I did not react. "Yes, I thought we'd get engaged this summer." To which I said, "Good, dear that was all I wanted to know." Dunn!
Then of course husband could not contain himself and started telling everyone we were getting married. So, I had to sit down with him again. "Darling, you can't tell people we are getting married without asking me first." To which he replied, "Fine, Will you marry me?" and of course I said "Yes!" and promptly called my mother, took his credit card and went straight to Tiffany & Co. Husband went fishing and when he got home I had a sparkly new ring and we were engaged. See, life is not like the movies but it has a way of working itself out.
Happy Socialite Saturday.

Love Story II
Happy WASP Wednesday!!
When selecting the proper mate there is only 1 thing to keep in mind. They PICK YOU! Yes, that is right, they select you. Each and every boyfriend I ever had liked me first. The other rule with love, it's like a dance. You take a step forward, they take a step back. Now, since Husband and I were set up the playing field was not level. But, I could tell Husband was into me as he displayed non stalkerish interest.
On our first date we conveniently passed by his apartment on the way to my car. I later learned we had gone out of the way. To "warm" up we entered so I could use the powder room. I noticed his apartment was super cool and clean (a complete lie normally). But a sign he was showing off, also he kissed me, another good sign-but I still got the heck out of there. Later, He called me and made plans to take me out, and not just to dinner or drinks. We went on hikes etc.
Right away I could tell Husband was the one. (not love at first sight, it took a few dates.) I established Husband went to Dickinson college. This is where my Father attended, and worshiping Daddy as I do this was a great sign for Husband. They were in different fraternities but I was willing to overlook that since they were from different generations. Also, he skied-a prerequisite in our family.
At this post I want to give my top places to find a man. I do want to mention that I believe in Eharmony. My bestie Mimi met an amazing man that way. Other places:
Alaska (in the summer). No, I'm not kidding. The ratio of men to women is like, 20:1
Charity committees & volunteerism. Men have jobs they have to promote themselves and network
Chamber of commerce networking events, crawling with men!
Sporting events
Sports bars
Golf course, and club house afterwards
Ski resorts
Home Depot or Lowes
Colorado
Nice restaurant bars (particularly after work)
Casinos, men go there in droves for bachelor parties on the weekends. The groom is taken, but not all the grooms men
I think you catch my drift, go where men hang out. And it isn't at the mall, or spa.
I hope you are enjoying what I "know," but please note: I "know" nothing.

Socialite Sunday is here and I'm almost finished with my "Being Beth Dunn," week. Wow! Then I'll have some guest bloggers as I'm sick from talking so much about my SC self.
Saturday
9:00 off to Varsity Inn in Ocean City for breakfast, eggs
11:00 Easter Egg Hunt, all of us in matching Kelly's Creations monogrammed shirts. So cute!
2:00 Off to Siren Stable for horse back riding
7:00 head up to the main house for pizza and wine
9:00 so tired! essemble Easter baskets and fall into bed and watch "Sweet Home Alabama."
On another note. The New York Times wrote an article about the new Preppy book coming out (can't wait). Again, so many haters commented on the article. Congrats Summer is a Verb and Monograms & Manicures for being quoted!

Monogram Monday!
I love Anne LakeCLICK HERE-she is the epitome of elegance! So I interviewed her.
Why did you start blogging?
I was a slow starter! I began blogging so that I could gain more insights into social media for my advertising agency. I also felt that there was an opening for a blog with a reflective quality about living and style, that wasn't purchase-based. But it has quickly become an avenue to so much more--great new friendships, most of all.
You have such style, some people would die to pair all of the color, jewelry and accessories. Where did you learn it? What is your inspiration?
What a lovely compliment! I have lots of inspiration, some of it classic, others more avante-garde. I adore Daphne Guinness, who is a true English eccentric and original. In the sense of just plain instinctive great taste, Lee Radziwill is unbeatable. From age 20 to her mid-70's now, she remains simple and elegant. I am also very into retro Brit looks of the twenties and thirties, sort of the White Mischief set. Jewels-wise, it has to be the Duchess of Windsor.
What is your idea of a dream day/weekend?
No phones...just my husband and me sailing together...some great champers in a paper cup...lots of sun and wind...a crabcake...Roxy Music playing...a blue RL swimsuit and a white boys oxford, wrinkled with sleeves rolled up...Topsiders...white denim shorts for later...
What do you think of mean girls and social climbers?
I don't think I know any mean girls anymore! As an eternal optimist and Pollyanna, I'd like to think they just haven't evolved yet, or had enough bumps on the road to know better. And as for social climbers--you're my fave!
Isn't she adorable?
xoxo
