Swell Socialites event!

Happy Fab Friday! I hope this blog finds everyone smashing.

We had a very successful Preppy Mafia launch party in Southern NJ yesterday-Socialites at the Shore. It was so fun, everyone got a PM bumper and stadium cup. Also Fralingers salt water taffy, Lilly Pulitzer pencil and tons of give aways. We received chair massages, compliments of Tranquil Touch (my therapist) and hand massages by Lynn at Party lite. The food, weather, and champagne were divine. And thank you for all of my Lilly Pulitzer hostess gifts!

Happy WASP Wednesday!

Hola! I'm already sick of my SC self. BUT, this post is secretly ALL about moi as I'm vain. I know us preppies aren't supposed to be super feminine but I'd like to look and feel as young as possible. Dr. Farber is my go to guy for all things keeping the largest organ (my skin) healthy and youthful. AND he is such a dear to host a Botox, Bubbly and Books party with me, he will talk skin and I'll be signing my novel, Social Climbers. Hope you can join us!

If you can't make it please enjoy our interview!

Q- I know I should wash my face before bed and wear SPF! What are your top tips to staying young and beautiful?
A- The reality is that you need a good skin care regimen, preferably one which is tailored for the individual. This may consist of not only of care of the facial skin, but other exposed sites such as the neck, chest, and backs of the hands.  Each person’s skin is somewhat unique and would benefit from a routine that is both doable and personalized. It’s far easier to maintain healthy skin than try to rejuvenate damaged skin or skin that has been left unattended. The best and most basic tip for good skin care is to be educated on general cleansing and to be aware of the entire treatment armamentarium from tropicals to laser and light based treatments. A conversation with your health professional will show you the way to a beautiful, healthful glow.

Q - Besides your amazing new skin care line, what laser treatments will keep me youthful?

There are a variety of laser treatments, its not a one size fits all.   An individualized laser therapy regimen focuses on the individual's needs. A variety of options exist for the treatment of  dark spots, blotchy red spots, fine lines,  etc.

Q- Do you have a list of super foods?

Most individuals are aware of their triggers, so that part is easy - the myths of super foods and bad foods can vary by individual.  For instance, chocolate doesn't bother everyone, as opposed to popular belief, but it can bother certain forms of adult acne as can certain wines. Super foods selections are the same for healthy skin as they are for healthy bodies and fitness. Foods like fruits, vegetables, and water-  lots of water. Hydrated skin is essential for a healthy glow.

Q- Are there exercises or products that don't cost a lot that work?

Most individuals can personalize a relatively inexpensive skin care regimen. A simple regimen and a few consistent steps will ensure a follow through in maintaining the regimen. You will be on the way to healthy and beautiful skin. People will notice there is something different about you-but only your doctor will know for sure....:)

Q- What other tricks do you suggest for keeping your skin looking fresh?

A- Take the few minutes each day to complete your cleansing and beautifying routine. It's simple, easy, and the results are easily noticed- almost instant gratification! Sleep- adequate sleep is as essential to the repair of skin cells as is water, nourishment and the cleansing routine.

Q- Do you offer facials?

A -Yes, we have an aesthetician on site. You can receive facials and cosmetic surgery, all in the same location. Our trained, caring staff of professionals will help you fit the time into your busy schedule. Patients have the added comfort level of knowing they are being cared for in the office of a medical professional.

Q-I sleep with humidifier and spray Borba water on my face, does this work?

A - Sleeping with a humidifier, hydrating by drinking lots of water is an important component in helping maintain and treat ones skin. Showing your skin a bit of tender loving care, in only minutes a day will result in a more beautiful and youthful looking you. The Farber Dermatology skin care product line has something for everyone. This, along with a routine regimen that can be personalized is the first step to better, healthier you.

Q- Tell my readers why you are the best dermatologist to Main Line Socialites?

The three A's : Able, Affable, and Accessible

How about the three S' words ?

A- Sexy skin expert!  Satisfyingly experienced, (or satisfying experience) Scheduling ease!
Or
Three E's

Expert Esthetics, Easy to Reach, everyday appointments.
Q- What kind of Pores do I have?

A- Larger pores can be a problem, and we have a regimen for that- you want the pores to be
like your back-something you are totally unaware of during your daily activities !

Preppy Challenge #3

OK so I'm only on the first page and already on day 3--this is going to be a long challenge. Please feel free to join me. As many of you know I'm a huge Queen Bee Swain ( http://queenbeeswain.blogspot.com)Fan---I literally love her in a normal healthy way! She tagged me for a October Favorites post and I'm going to do it preppy style:

1. Football-- "Of course football games generate the greatest gaiety, drawing alumni back to school, providing excuses for entire weekends of parties. Tailgate picnics, whiskey sours in the stadium, and the general complexity of the sports guarantee that nobody knows what is going on."  Simple terms--fall cocktailing--I've been enjoying some lovely red wines. Don't forget the fire place and chili.

2.Clothes- TOPH does not mention JM but does include Embroidered Corduroys. I live for these with a chunky wool sweaters. I also love tweeds, plaids (although I'm sure TOPH would not approve of my burberry pants). Belgian loaffers, Cole Haan driving shoes, duck shoes--I could go on and on. I've missed my little stored items. It's like Christmas getting to see my clothes again. Oh yeah and don't hate me for this but my furs get delivered in October. I live for my furs!

3. Fall Fund raisers. The political machine is back in the swing of things. This weekend we have 3! I'll be sure to give a full report on Monday. But parties are always fun especially when you have a driver.

#4 Pumpkins and Mums to line the front porch. I wait until exactly October 1st and not a day before to decorate my house for fall.

Anyone who would like to share their October Favorites please do and I'd love everyone to join in the TOPH preppy challenge. So far so good. I'm not too off the mark.

Preppy Party

This week is shaping up to not be as depressing as I thought. I love summer, that is what living at the shore is all about but today...

Facial--I've been using a new face cream AGE from skin ceuticals. I have issues like everyone else but acne is not normally one of them. But these new friends must be dealt with and a new day face cream must be purchased as clearly my face does not like this cream during the day. Plus treating seasonal depression a.k.a summer is over is best done at a spa. I never feel depressed while wearing a robe and drinking water with cucumbers. Plus I'm convinced the pb filled pretzels are not fattening at a spa. Right?

Mani/Pedi--a weekly must for me. I can feel self-conscientious but it won't show if I have one of these (a good dress helps)

Party with Husband. Philadelphia Magazine does a beautiful Show case house (Design Home) annually and the proceeds are for The Ronald McDonald House (great charity--never feel guilty if party is helping someone). Tonight is the opening and there will be cocktails, food and lots of fun. Show case houses are terrific for getting home decorating ideas. But seeing how I need a new roof and hot water heater I don't think this will come in as handy as I'd like. Perfect excuse none the less.

Will either wear hot pink Lilly Pulitzer dress or orange Kate Spade dress. I might even put on mascara.

Hope everyone is having a terrific Wednesday!

xoxo

Cheers!

Preppy-a-licious weekend

Labor Day!

I'm excited for the long weekend. Tonight is the Jr. sailing banquet at OCYC (Ocean City Yacht Club). So cute--all my boys will be wearing their navy blue blazers. There is nothing I like more than men in navy blue blazers with gold buttons. Hopefully we'll be able to take a nice family picture. We need to get our Christmas card picture pronto. I have a Vineyard Vines shift dress in blue with crabs on it so we can all coordinate.

I wanted to take an opportunity in today's blog to say thank you to all of the amazing people that I have met in the blog world. I have over 200 followers-wow! And so many of you leave fun, funny and honest comments. I appreciate our relationships, however cyber they are. You can never have enough love and I'm confident I don't say it enough so again THANK YOU! I've met some really fun people that I wish were neighbors in real life. This fall one of my goals is to decorate my blog a little more with pictures etc.

What is everyone else doing for Labor Day?

Stay Preppy!

Gifts, Thank you and All around feeling the love!!!!

You have to love Sugar & Flour!!!!! http://sweetteadiaries.blogspot.com/
She sent me the loveliest little frosted cookies. My sons and I gobbled them up in, oh I don't know 30 seconds! They are so good! Thank you so much!!!

I also want to thank Madras and Pearls who gave me an award. She is a terrific blogger you must stop by and read if you do not already!!! http://madrasnpearls.blogspot.com/

Regatta life has left me with not a lot of time to blog, or be on the computer in general. I wanted to say hello to everyone and hope you are all having a terrific week. The weather is super warm here in New Jersey. I finally got a massage and tomorrow plan to continue the pampering with a facial, manicure, and pedicure. Then back to a massage on Monday (my neck has been hurting me). I also made a hair appointment and plan to do some major shopping. Just hoping they have not put away all of the summer clothes.

We have a fundraiser tonight for our local mayor. Secretly I'm going because it is in a major house that I'm dying to see the inside of. I know that is totally gross but I swear I have swell intentions. I like meeting new friends and am constantly looking for decorating ideas.

Hopefully by mid month I will be primped, and can finish out the summer shopping and sitting on the beach. This one has been a bit crazy. The car pooling to camp has meant my hair has been up now, not properly blown out for over a month. Which puts me in an incredibly bad mood. I don't want to be selfish but I can't be selfless either--the grumps take over.

I can't wait to get dressed up tonight and be with Husband. Best of all Mommie is here helping in the garden and then babysitting. Yippee!!

Love your bodies

xx

Life of the party!

Birthday presents for children. These are tough. If you don't know exactly what they currently "into" it is hard to pick them out. I do a lot of gift cards so they can pick what they like. But then that seems so boring to just give a gift card. I'm off to shop today to try to figure that out.

This week has been a ton of doctor appointments. Not just for me but for my children. I can't wait to have them all under our belt--at least for this year. Then they will start all over again in January.

I love these wine glasses. They are so pretty. Cheers to everyone to have a lovely weekend!

When I was secret shopping for hostess gifts I cam across these over sized rubber duckies. I love rubber duckies. In fact I still sing "rubber ducky you're the one--you make bath time so much fun," to my sons. But, I walked right on by them dismissing them as a hostess gift-they are clearly for a child right. The women in the store knew what I was looking for and told me these are a hot hostess gift for summer pool parties. Brilliant! And the price is right-they were only around $20. So festive. Happy Swimming.

I hope everyone is having a bright day!
