I'm the first to admit when it comes to fashion, style and decorating I have no clue what I'm doing. I'm a master at copying a look from the runway, TV commercial, picture in magazine. But, a few years ago I learned one trick. Placing like things next to one another looks best. I apply that rule to anything I decorate, including myself. The way I dress, decorate etc is a reflection of not only my personality but my creativity. When I select an outfit I also design a jewelry concept to match, I approach my home and garden with a similar strategy. So when I look pulled together, I'm really just following that one simple concept.
star fishes were on my Miss Trish of Capri shoes, my ring and on my pearl bracelet. I also have starfish earrings.

Lilly, Lilly, Lilly, Lilly!
Hello and happy preppy Thursday!
I heart preppy blog land. I met SO many amazing ladies last night at our Lilly Pulitzer kick off dinner. We ate, (well I didn't eat a thing as I was too busy talking-typical SC), at the island inspired Bahama Breeze-perfect place to sport our pink and green.
Thank you to the Preps who organized it!
This is me with Preppy50 and loving lilly and Preppycoastee
Me and Monograms & Manicures in matching Lilly Pulitzer pants!
I promise to share more pictures once I'm done with this whirlwind shopping spree I've been on.
All I can say is, I'm so happy I found the preppy blog land. You ladies made my night! And for those of you I did not get more time to talk to, save me a seat right next to you at our next get together!
xoxo

Preppy 101: Ode to Lilly Pulitzer
It is officially here! Preppy Blog dinner is tomorrow night. Can't wait to meet everyone in person. I wish you were ALL coming for the Lilly Pulitzer ware house sale!
First, I just have to give you a tease: I'm having the most deliciously plaid guest blogger this week. You all are going to LOVE her!
Now back to Lilly Pulitzer! Preppy challenge aside. This is literally one of my all time favorite designers!
1. I love the clothes. They are my go to brand for any occasion from wedding to shopping at Wall Mart (which I actually don't but I do go to Target).
2. They hosted my first book signing!
7. Husband looks fabulous in Lilly Pulitzer bathing suits and ties.
Love you Lilly Pulitzer! Thank you for making my life a little brighter.
xoxo

3. OK people! They hosted a book signing for little me, do I need to list another reason to LOVE Lilly Pulitzer?
4. My now shore bff introduced herself to me this way about 12 years ago, "Hi, my name is shore bff. My sister told me I'd like anyone who wears Lilly Pulitzer." It was love at first site! And yes, I was wearing Lilly Pulitzer. So you too can make friends by wearing it!
5. I'm decorating my new office in Lilly Pulitzer because it makes me happy! Don't you just feel a little better when you see their catalog. Or browse a Lilly book? Or go to the store? If I were an alien the store would be my mother ship!
6. I had the pleasure of attending their 50th birthday jubilee party last year in NYC at Parsons School of design. The gift bag was to die for! 7. Husband looks fabulous in Lilly Pulitzer bathing suits and ties.
Love you Lilly Pulitzer! Thank you for making my life a little brighter.

The Official Preppy Handbook Challenge
Prep Persona
"Because Mummy and Daddy instruct their children in all matters of Taste and tact, Preppies don't really have to worry about going astray. When the time comes, the children will know what to write on Prep school application essay, who to marry, and how to ensure serenity and security for their children by putting their tooth fairy dollars in a money market fund. Like everything else, Preppiness begins in the home." TOPH
This is from lunch the other day with my gbff. Now do we think my preppy rearing taught me to wear crazy leopard boots and carry a very logo'd LV bag? Probably not...but the boots are Lilly Pulitzer. So I'm giving myself a check for this...next up "The Home."
Stay Preppy

Preppy Challenge #3
OK so I'm only on the first page and already on day 3--this is going to be a long challenge. Please feel free to join me. As many of you know I'm a huge Queen Bee Swain ( http://queenbeeswain.blogspot.com)Fan---I literally love her in a normal healthy way! She tagged me for a October Favorites post and I'm going to do it preppy style:
1. Football-- "Of course football games generate the greatest gaiety, drawing alumni back to school, providing excuses for entire weekends of parties. Tailgate picnics, whiskey sours in the stadium, and the general complexity of the sports guarantee that nobody knows what is going on." Simple terms--fall cocktailing--I've been enjoying some lovely red wines. Don't forget the fire place and chili.
2.Clothes- TOPH does not mention JM but does include Embroidered Corduroys. I live for these with a chunky wool sweaters. I also love tweeds, plaids (although I'm sure TOPH would not approve of my burberry pants). Belgian loaffers, Cole Haan driving shoes, duck shoes--I could go on and on. I've missed my little stored items. It's like Christmas getting to see my clothes again. Oh yeah and don't hate me for this but my furs get delivered in October. I live for my furs!
3. Fall Fund raisers. The political machine is back in the swing of things. This weekend we have 3! I'll be sure to give a full report on Monday. But parties are always fun especially when you have a driver.
#4 Pumpkins and Mums to line the front porch. I wait until exactly October 1st and not a day before to decorate my house for fall.
Anyone who would like to share their October Favorites please do and I'd love everyone to join in the TOPH preppy challenge. So far so good. I'm not too off the mark.
xoxo

Preppy Day #2
TOPH (The Official Preppy Handbook) ruled my life until I wrote my own. Please take the challenge with me. I open the book, read something and see if it still applies and if so do I fit the bill. Now that I live in New Jersey I fear I've slipped. I used to live on the Main Line--now I've discovered I live in ML New Jersey--that counts right? They have the same initials. So from ML here we go............
"Looking, acting, and ultimately being Prep is not restricted to an elite minority lucky enough to attend prestigious private schools, just because an ancestor or two happened to arrive here on the Mayflower. You don't even have to be a registered Republican. In a true democracy everyone can be upper class and live in Connecticut. It's only fair."

JM dress I wore to dinner with Husband! You can't see but I'm wearing signet earrings.
Peace, Love and Preppy

Need a new dress!
Of course I want to start off by saying my heart and head were heavy in anticipation of today. Never Forget!
For this weekend we have a few fun things in store
Tonight-quiet. I think I'll get sushi and relax. Still watching Mad Men.
Saturday-I am the tennis coach for my oldest son's team it is so cute! We have a wedding at the Buena Vista Country Club. I had a country club wedding. I actually love country club weddings. We did not have a beach house, lake house etc so the country club wedding is very preppy. I can't wait!
Sunday-My son has a birthday party. An outdoor movie birthday party.
So I've been eye-ing the new Kate Spade dresses and I love Lesley Evers too. With this rain I just need some good J Crew rain boots and I still have (drum roll please) and Eagles Eye bright yellow rain coat with a yellow and white checked lining. It is timeless and I love it. I've had since I was about 16. For those of you too young to have known Eagles Eye is was like Lilly Pulitzer and Laura Ashley and I wore it all the time! Now they run Tory Burch so you get the idea.
I hope everyone has a fab weekend!

So I finally watched Twilight. OMG. I loved it!!! Talk about my new favorite movie. It was really romantic--if you can handle they barely talk except about "what" Edward is. And I loved the scene when they show up to school together and he's like "well I'm already in trouble, we might as well just go for it," and he puts the glasses on, smiles and puts his arm around her. I wish there had been just a bit more humor but I really loved it. And it sort of got me out of my " I don't like anything new and fun" funk. But thank you for all of your suggestions as I plan to look into them. So should I have read the book? Am I really missing out? Annual Kennebunkport trip is approaching so after I read
1. One Fifth
2. Chasing Harry Winston
3. Secrets of the Hollywood girls Club
Shall I say finish, I've started all three. Plus, I have Senators Wife and one other should I read Twilight? I mean it is very teenage. Not to say that American Pie, Old School and I hear the Hangover aren't my favorite movies ever. I'm still in college as far as I can tell, just with a bigger sorority house (that is somehow occupied by men but oh well, in college all I wanted to do was be around the boys anyway). But will I enjoy it or is teenage angst. I'm over teenage angst. I'm dealing with should I get plastic surgery because I will be 40 soon. Let me know what you think.
Love you all
Peace Love and Gucci

Jewelry--fun and preppy
I swear every time I go to a ladies shopping event the jewelry vendors are mobbed. Ladies love their jewelry. I am one of them. One of my dear friends just started a new website to see the gorgeous/fun jewelry she has been designing and selling for years. So I wanted to give her a shout out. You can visit Lisi Lerch at
www.lisilerch.com
I get tons of compliments whenever I wear her jewelry. For summer I don the star fish ring and sea horse earring many a summer party.
What is your favorite piece of jewelry?
Stay fabulous
Cheers!

Vacation
Oh holy vacation
I cannot believe this place. I'm always amazed when I got to a truly child oriented resort. Atlantis is just that. The good news is all the rides/attractions are in walking distance. However, the face mists, cucumber water, complimentary anything is void. This is truly a place for children. If you like to sit back, read and be pampered....go to the Ritz/4 C's. I don't even think I had time for a proper shower. Thankfully it was super warm and sunny. The east coast has been a weather nightmare. Welcome to summer. Let me know if you are planning on going--I have advice. xoxo
Hope everyone is having a great day!

Social Climbers in The Current

http://14days.shorenewsnow.com/2009/04/13/books-and-writing.aspx?ref=rss
We were in the local News Paper today!
I have to prepare for my segments. We are filming tonight at NBC40. I'll keep everyone posted on when they will air.
The Dictionary (edited for the blog, but you can read the whole thing on amazon.com)
AT-Already There
SC-Social Climber
NR-Nouveau Riche
WT-White Trash
MC-Middle Class
UB-Uber Bitch
DLG-Daddy's Little Girl
JM- J. McLaughlin
SS-Social Standing
IT-having it all
So all know Alex and Simon are called SC
But what is Betheny? Now that Luann, the countess, is getting divorced, what is she? I think Kelly is a UB to Betheny. And Jill, well what can I say. She is IT!
